To Do from Last Week:Items promised to another Freecycle member - DONE - She took ~90% of items - WooHoo!!Kitchen items in response to Wanted request for plates, glasses, small appliances for person setting up housekeeping
Still pending on list with no takers so far - GONE with the recycle truck 2 hours ago~100 National Geographic magazines
Two-thirds of my kitchen cabinets are EMPTY. Unbelievable all the things purchased over the years and little or never used. All perfectly good stuff. Gone from my life. How can I miss something that's never been used? I don't!
DH has volunteered to vacuum and clean out the cabinets. He rewashed all the things we're keeping and a lot of what was given away. They were just dusty. Both of us now know exactly what we have in the kitchen. It is stuff we use frequently or plan to. Like the appliances named in previous post. I put out the yogurt maker and an electric can opener. The lady took the can opener but left the yogurt maker.
There were so many items that I set up a long table on the front porch and told her to bring boxes and take whatever she thought her son (a single father of a 3-year old daughter) could use. Some items were too delicate (in my opinion) for a young man (like my Southern aunt's good china with a small flowery pattern that hasn't graced a table in 30+ years) but I put them out anyway. Who am I to decide who might like what? The lady took the dishes for herself. I am happy that she liked them. She seemed very nice. Came with her 20-month old grandson. Some things she took for her daughter's home.
Here is what she took. It helps me to do these lists so that I can 'see' how much is really gone from the house. Especially with this lot because it was all hidden in cabinets. Looking around the kitchen, you really can't tell that anything's changed.
But, it has.
