BOOKMARKING theads
to your SteppingOutofSqualor PROFILE:go to the thread you are interested in.
Then looks for these things at the top-right of the the list of bookmarked threads:
"Actions" (dropdown menu) ... then a "Search" field.
Use the "Actions" dropdown menu to select "add bookmark".
By clicking on "bookmark", you can save the thread to refer back to later.
How to FIND your Saved Boomarks:Be logged in. Then notice at the top of any screen this menu:
Home, Latest, Help, Search, Members, Profile, PMs, Bookmarks, Chat.
From that, click on "Bookmarks".
TO FIND a specific bookmark
inside your profile-bookmarks list,
use your computer's search function.
(usually the F4 key)
and then search for a word in the title, or the name of the person who started the thread, or the name of the last person to reply to the thread.
BENEFITS of
bookmarking to your PROFILE:The awesome thing about saving bookmarks inside your forum profile, is that they are ATTACHED to your SOS profile. That means that you don't have to own a computer. If you log into SOS from the library, or from a friend's house, or public computer, or hotel computer, or your jobsite, or from ANY computer, you can access your SOS bookmarks from your profile.
It won't save non-SOS websites. But it will save your favorite SOS threads.
They won't be saved onto the computer you are using.
They'll be saved on the proboards server, inside your SOS profile.
If you delete your entire SOS account -- that would delete your profile, so therefore all your saved bookmarks would be lost. You'd have to manually search for those threads again.
ORDER that the Bookmarks display in:You cannot re-order (change the order)
of how the posts appear
in your profile-bookmarks file.
At top will be:
Most recently replied-to thread.
CAN'T "RENAME"If you have been reading a wonderful thread about how to clean a carpet stain, and want to save it, do the procedure above.
However, if the person who STARTED the thread ... if she gave it the title "HELP!!!!" ... then your bookmarked thread will keep that titled of "HELP!!!". You cannot change the title of the thread to "Carpet Stain Removal" in your bookmarks.
Your SOS-PROFILE bookmark will always keep the title of whatever the first post in the thread is.
NOTE:
If you were saving threads on your BROWSER
(internet explorer "favorites", or Firefoc Bookmarks, or whatever Opera or Safari call it)
... if it's a direct save into your browser Bookmarks/Favorites, you can RENAME it however you want.
But it would be saved on your computer harddrive, and NOT in your SOS profile. Which means you could find them only from your computer.
Someone asked if you could rename bookmarks in your SOS-Profile, and the answer is NO.
If you want it saved in the bookmarks filed attached to your SOS profile, then you have to leave it with whatever the first person on the thread named it.
The only way a profile-bookmark would change in name, would be if the person who started the thread chose to rename her thread herself.
DELETING (Unbookmarking):The easy way to Unbookmark a single thread is to go to the actual thread -- and in upper left corner of the thread, click "remove bookmark".

hold the cursor over the left side of any of the threads you wish to be REMOVED from your list of bookmarks.
CHECK THE BOX of any bookmarks you want removed.
Then looks for these things at the top-right of the the list of bookmarked threads:

(this works only after you have checked a box to the left of one of the threads)
