Good idea with covering things with a sheet. Then add: "Pardon the sheets, they should be here to remove the bodies soon" Bet they come and go real quick and not notice any clutter in the house. SNM

Two-thirds of each room has now been boxed and moved out of the way or thrown out. How did I get so much stuff in two rooms? OMG, it's neverending! It's going to be all I can do just to move everything around so they have enough room to make it in and out. Sheesh. I like the sheet and bodies idea. .

I look around this over 2000 sq foot house and ask myself how one person could have filled it up the way I had. I swear people snuck in while I was sleeping and did it! You'll get through this DD, I have faith is you! Hugs SNM

A silver lining -- if you declutter as you unpack those boxes, you won't ever have to stash and dash again.
Yes, you can do this.

I feel your pain, our air conditioning has been broken for several weeks and my dh won't call a repair person until I declutter our living room/ hallway area. We spent last weekend cleaning out the yard 'cause they have to take the unit outside... still have several plastic bins out there that I don't know what to do with. Good luck!

put all dishes in box and put in bathtub.... good luck Better yet, scrub and bleach the tub and hide the dishes under hot water and bubble bath. Then they will only need to be rinsed!!!

Looks like you got a lot done.
I remember that stuff when I lived in an apartment after my divorce!! It sucked.
The most aggrivating incident was the window blind out front was all messed up due to my kids pulling on it to look out. Anyway, you could look in and see the living room, which really wasn't all that bad. Just a little messy and I had knocked a bag of apples over on my way out that morning.
Well apparently the property manager was going around to put flyer on peoples doors and looked IN my apartment, saw the mess and flipped. She gave me the choice of cleaning it up in 24 hours or getting served a 7 day notice- fine I took the notice so I had time to clean up the mess.
So at the end of the 7 days, she comes back to check my mess. Actually, I should say, she FORGOT to come back and check my non-existent mess. Yes, I had to call her and remind her. Then it took her another hour to show up even though she told me was on her way out the door (I was tired, cranky and had other stuff to do then wait on her!).
Now keep in mind, the two days leading up to her inspection I had spent a lot of time scrubbing and not getting very much sleep. I made sure the bedroom and bathroom were sparkling.
When she got there, barely stepped in, took a quick look around from the front doorway and said "Oh, looks good" and LEFT!
I moved soon after that.

It is done. What I mean is I'm done and so are the maintenance guys. Everything seemed to go well. As usual, I did my best to be friendly and make them laugh, which they always seem to appreciate since they're usually greeted by tenants who are either indifferent or inflamed. The rooms were still jam-packed, but at least everything was in a box, the trash was picked up, the floors were swept, and they had enough room to work, so that was all that mattered. The only thing they commented on was to joke about my lovely selection of boxes, something I actually discussed on my blog during a break a few hours back. I ended up having to make a second box run, so I waited until the liquor store down the street closed and went to pick up whatever boxes they had left outside. I can't help it if the people in my neighborhood have questionable taste in alcohol, prefering brands that can also be used as lawn mower fuel and that have expiration dates that say things like "Best if served before leaving the parking lot." Box beggars cannot be choosers. Besides, some of them are pretty colors. Well, at least these two rooms have been jumpstarted. I'm going to take a much-needed shower and long nap and then I'm going to keep working. No sense in letting this momentum go to waste, especially now that I've seen just how much stuff I need to go thru. I still cannot believe I ever got this much junk into just two rooms. And I know the bedroom is worse. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone for all of their support and wonderful suggestions, all of which I used, by the way. Knowing I had a cheering section did make things easier. Thank you again!

Hi Dragon! Just getting a break at work. So glad to hear that you made it and they're finished. AC working now? SNM had an excellent suggestion with the sheets. Also, remember for future situations -- in case you don't get it all done now -- maint. folks just might have MORE clutter at home than you do! I run a super-efficient office, but am drowning in piles of paper at home....no one here would have a clue that I have a "personal paper problem". All the best you, my friend, PG

Just wanted to say Well Done Dragon!!!! I was in a very similar situation - I took 2 days leave from work to have a good sort and clean up and on the first day at 10am the housing guy turns up to service my gas boiler!! It was hard work putting him off and I ended up in a right state, but finally agreed he could come back on Tuesday (yesterday) - this gave me 4 days to get it sorted (I had to go back to work Monday). Well, 7 large bagfulls of rubbish and lots of scrubbing later I managed it - however had to limit him to front room, bathroom and landing - still have loads of stuff in other rooms to sort!!
It's good to know I'm not the only one who panics about letting people into my home - Keep up the good work!!!

Congrats! So happy to hear it went well. I try to be extra nice to the maintenance workers, too. Never hurts to have them on your side.
