I got behind on my AVON account. I owed one last big payment. I knew it. I was waiting for my income tax $$. Remember how I messed that up, too? It was almost a month late getting to me. Then I was taking care of mom and cleaning and packing and finding a place to move to and working and and and....I finally did take care of it. Paid in full. End of problem. I thought. Well they don't care about the why's. I cannot go back to selling. I am black listed I guess. One mistake and 8 years of my good reputation is gone. I am seeing if I can appeal to someone. Let me at least explain what the reason was. I will miss it terribly if I can never do it again.
Lesson learned--call and explain lateness RIGHT AWAY. They most likely would have worked with me at the beginning. Now I am suffering the consequences. *sigh*

Shell, I'm so sorry they aren't offering you any leniency given your great track record. I wonder if talking with someone higher up the chain would give you a 2nd chance, especially considering your extenuating circumstances. Here's hoping! Good luck!

I don't have any experience with selling Avon but perhaps, if they're reluctant to take you back, you could ask if they'll put you on for a probationary period (say 90 days). And, if all goes well, then restore you back after 90 days as a full-fledged Avon Lady.

Advice please. I am thinking of writing to Corporate Avon. The company markets itself as the company for women. Well not for women who need a 2nd chance evidently. So thoughts? Can't hurt, right. I mean they already said no because it is corporate policy if you go into collections you can NEVER SELL AVON again. Seems a bit harsh. There should be an appeal system. Not everyone is a deadbeat. Some of us have extenuating circumstances. We need a helping hand sometimes, right. That is the theme of their company. So let me hear it. What are your thoughts.

I would go ahead and do it - write to the corporate headquarters, maybe they will listen. What have you got to lose?

Dear Shell,
As I know nothing about Avon, this might not apply.
Do you have a sponsor in the business, or an upline, that might go to bat for you? If you can appeal high enough up the chain, that might work.
If Avon doesn't work that way, then writing to headquarters and appealing for a hearing on the matter cannot hurt.

I do have an upline. Not really any help there. It is as if because I am not one of their high money makers I am not worthy. The one I signed up under quit years ago. I don't know anyone else up higher anymore. Our old district manager ROCKED. She would have been an ally to anyone who needed her. This one doesn't seem to have time for me. Not even to tell me that I was not a candidate for reinstatement. I had to hear it 2nd hand from another rep! Who by the way should not have that information.

So let me hear it. What are your thoughts. When I worked in accounts receivable for our small-medium family business, we often had customers who got into trouble in some way. We would take the deliquents OFF 'charge account' status [terms: net 30 days] and put them on to COD status [cash on delivery]. This allowed the customer some lee-way [still would have merchandise to sell] but we took ZERO RISK. Maybe you can find some way to suggest a similar arrangement?

I put it in my letter already. I also stated I would even be willing to prepay, submit payment with my order for 6 months or so. Zero risk to them. And even a small deposit could be doable. Hoping for a 2nd chance program.

Here is an interesting turn of events. My district manager contacted me with an email and said if I wanted to appeal I could put it in an email and she would forward it for me. Does that sound hinky to anyone else? How would I know it went exactly as I wrote it? Would she make changes regarding herself in it? Not sure that it is a good option. Think I will stick with my original letter plan. Letter written Addresses located Print out letter and envelopes MAIL letters Registered of course I found several different people I wish to mail it to from the AVON corporate website. I will send a copy to my district manager out of courtesy. Maybe even include a 2nd copy for her to forward.

I thought that Avon were keen to have sellers who stick with it, and after 8 years why would they give you up so easily? I wish you all the best of luck with the letters.

I just wanted to say that I hope this works out for you! I used to sell Tupperware and I loved it. In my case, I simply can't afford to continue it right now but I hope that changes in the future. I think that if Avon has a way to pay as you go -- it will be no risk for them and it will also help you keep current -- I sure hope it works out!!

Messyshell, I would send the letter regardless. But you could also send an email and request that the supervisor cc you a copy of what she forwarded.

I might just do that moonglow. I still just have a "funny" feeling about the DM. I have been trying to find out who is in charge in our district over her. It is like some big secret! I was thinking of asking her for the address because I would rather send a snail mail letter than an email. Emails are OK but I like sending a registered snail mail letter. I keep a copy and they have one. Easier to be on the same page, so to speak.

What a shabby way for Avon to treat you!
I may boycott them if they won't have you back.
