I have one cat at this piint. the others died. Don't ask. that's past. Anyway, Kitty has one box, in my basement. I manage it by scooping at least once a day.And I use a very high qualiyty litter-EverClean multi-cat. It's about $17 for 20 lbs. The box lasts about a month. I change it out completely once a month and scoop at least once a day, as I said.

I had a litter problem a few years ago due to the size of my cat. He started out as a tiny llittle kitten, but he quickly outgrew the first covered litter box, We tried various sizes and kids of boxes, but the cat would go into the box and his rear would hang out, or if he did get all the way in, he would throw litter out when he covered his mess. The only thing that has worked for us is a really large Rubbermaid bin with a door cut into it. It is big enough for the cat to get into and turn around, and the sides are high so nothing gets thrown out the sides. This is placed on top of a rubber backed rug that is several inches larger all around than the box. The rug catches most of the litter that sticks to the bottom of the cat's feet. We vacuum the rug when we clean the box every other day or so. This has eliminated litter issues for us.

Thank you for your suggestion Onward. I am hoping that my cats will take to something new.
