We need this for our newbies. twirling = when you stand in a room, looking around and trying to figure out where to start, and you end up confused and overwhelmed, and you end up doing nothing. That's twirling. sink pudding = that gunk that fills your sink after a loooong time of not doing the dishes. ballet = the "dance" you do when you're navigating a path (see "goat trail") in your house and trying to avoid running into and tripping over things. goat trail = the path through your home when all other areas are impassable. I'll add to this post as I think of things. Please clarify/fix mine and add your own words, phrases, and definitions too!

Hangers-on -- the things you pass over time and time again when you're cleaning an area because it takes too much emotional energy to figure out what to do with them.

Swish & Swipe
Method of cleaning a bathroom regularly/daily: first introduced by FlyLady.
*the home care co-ordinator SWISHES the toilet daily: usually after his/her bath or shower. With or without product [bleach, toilet cleaner]; with a brush or other implement, permanent or disposable. If needed, a paper towel or cloth or rag is used to swish around the outside of the toilet. This means that once daily, the toilet is clean AND MORE IMPORTANTLY: nasties don't have a chance to harden; rust stains don't accumulate; bad odour stay out.
*likewise the home-care co-ordinator SWIPES the sink and/or bathtub and/or shower in the same way. With or without product [cream cleanser, windex, whatever] with a paper towel or cloth or rag. Even just a bit of a swipe on the taps keeps them looking polished. Moreover, toothpast doesn't get a chance to harden into rock.
*if the home-care co-ordinator is feeling really energetic, he/she can also swipe up a bit of the floor with the towel.
I have been doing Swish & Swipe since Oct'2004, and it has changed my life: My bathroom NEVER needs a deep clean anymore.

swish & swipe--this is a habit I wish I could get into.
"home-care coordinator" --oh, that's what I am. Can I get a raise to reflect the title?

Mt. Washmore - a huge pile of dirty laundry that needs to be done
Mt. Washedmore - a huge pile of clean clothes that need to be put away

amnesty-
your official pardon from doing all the things like recycling that you think you MUST or SHOULD do in order to be a good person. but, as you continue to do them, or attempt to do them, you find they actually sabotage your efforts at having a safe and sane home. therefore, you are granted amnesty from any thought or expectation that puts even one more tiny step between you and a healthy, happy and junk free home.

The breeding grounds: where socks go to do the nasty & create hundreds of singlet socks with no match (For example: Our socks tend to go completely sterile when they are actually in the laundry room - all socks have one mate & no offspring. Once they hit the couch after drying though, it's a free-for-all sock orgy & I can't tell you how many love-children have appeared after the wild sock festivals that go on in broad daylight on my couch. It's disgusting.)

Stacking : when all of the horazontal spaces are taken; you have to go verticle. Really tall "stacks" fall sometimes.
Frozen : when you have a big mess and you can't do anything.

Overwhelmed -- What every single one of us was feeling when we stumbled upon SOS. (And yes, it still happens. No magic pills here.)

Instead of ballet, I call it surfing. That's because my arms are usually out to my sides (in case I need to grab furniture or something close at hand if I lose my balance).

Churning - moving stuff from place to place without actually putting it away or finding a permanent home for it - or getting rid of it.
