Shoe boxes, especially, were valued when I was growing up. After all, we didn't get all that many of them. I usually had only TWO pairs of shoes at a time when I was young--"dress up" shoes for church and "every day" shoes for everything else!!! (How many pairs of shoes do you have at home . . . h-m-m-m-m?)
Anyway, the shoe boxes that we did have were great for storing small things--pencils, crayons, paint brushes, pretty stones, etc.
However, I used to have a WONDERFUL time making doll houses out of the shoe boxes!! Most of the time, I'd just color them inside with my crayons. If I really wanted to get fancy, Mother would let me cut up an old catalog. From it, I would cut out "rugs" for my house, "curtains," and so forth. Sometimes, I'd tape together more than one shoe box with "doors" cut through from one to another.
Gee--that sounds like something fun to do right now!

Ouch, Shoes are a weakness of mine! I have very good legs, one of my best features so I love to wear high heels to show them off! I go shoe shopping when I feel blue. Can you imagine? I stopped counting after 200 ! Lucky my daughters takes the same size so we trade and have a bigger shoe budget! The boxes are another weakness, I love any box! It makes me feel organized! Although I have way too many and not really a system or labels or anything so they often add to the mess! I hope confessions are good for the soul cause I just bared mine!! Renee |

I rarely use phone books anymore. Everything's online. One thing I do have is a personal address book, so I know where to mail Christmas cards. Also have friends and relatives phone numbers there.

I agree with using the internet to look up numbers, DH prefers to use phones books over using the net. I don't have a wood fire but I have heard that people use old phone book pages as fire starters and the best thing is they are free!
