I haven't been keeping up with it but I have taken about 8 car loads of stuff to Good Will.
I gave away my buffet, my pie safe, rehomed my table and chairs, tossed my mattresses and my sofa and side chair into the dumpster, and tossed more than 17 hefty lawn bags FULL of stuff into the dumpster. (not to mention half a box of tall kitchen trash bags filled. I also gave away 3 bookcases and numerous small items... Do I get a cookie? This may be it for the year... LOL

I have another box of donations filled, but I'm not counting it until it actually leaves the house.
I told Mom about the 2012 things out in 2012 idea, and sort of dared her to join in. So far she's collected 100 magazines to get rid of. She's going through them to see if there are recipes or patterns in them she wants to keep, so it may be a bit before they actually make it out of the house, but it's progress. She just keeps building additions to her house to make room for more stuff. I think small little challenges like this will help her out without suggesting that she 'has a problem'.

1 torn flannel shirt (this I had a really hard time with, I still wear it even though it's in tatters)
1 shedding glove (will toss it's mate as soon as I find it!)
Three so far, will modify this if I dump more today!

Maybe...the theme to Chariots of Fire...? Long distance runners? Or maybe it wasn't a musical theme the poster was looking for. Maybe she meant a motto. Something less cliche than "if in doubt, throw it out," but along the same line.
Anyway, I am pretty sure I can find 2012 items to get rid of this year. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Already donated a box of 25 shirts/knit tops, 2 slacks, 1 pants suit, one porcelain doll, and about 15 toys that my grandson has outgrown. What's that? 44...
