Oops--sorry I posted a sideways pic for that first one. Here is another "before" photo, showing a different angle. Those white bags weren't part of the ongoing pile, but it is where we usually stored garbage bags before taking them outside to the barrels. So, in other words, those particular bags would have only stayed there for a few days, but there would always have been some bags there.

Thank you sunshine!
More photos to come, followed by opening a new thread to continue the saga, as I think this one is getting a little long!

Thank you, casper!
I am attaching the first of three "before" pictures of our entryway.

That was sideways again, but I don't know why. It looks right when I open it on my computer.
Anyway, I'm attaching another "before" picture of the entryway. The paint cans seen in the photo are the ones from the kitchen pile. I have them in a box near the front so that I will take them to the recycling place. In the meantime, I have been throwing old batteries and other "household hazardous waste" into the box to take along.

Another of the entryway, facing toward the front door. The giant cardboard box is from our new futon couch.

Now for the "after" photos. Our daughter actually did all of this clearing and cleaning herself, last week, while we were heavily into Passover cleaning.
Interesting how a photo makes me notice things I don't see with my eyes. Like, I have been wondering where that trash basket had gone off to, and there it is right in front of that table. It's still there and now I can get it into its correct spot!
(The microwave under the table was bought new at a tremendous discount ($20 from something like $80). I got it for my husband to use in his office, but he refuses to take it to the office until he has a refrigerator to go with it!)

My favorite view of the cleared area.

Just want to add that the work of clearing and straightening this area included dealing with a HUGE pile of shoes. She was able to throw away several worn-out, ill-fitting pairs and put several more outgrown pairs in the donation bag. (Some donation bags can be seen in the photos--the white garbage bags by the front door. I routinely keep donation bags there so I will grab them on my way out. All of those, plus the ones she put together while cleaning, have been dropped off since then.) Our son cut down the cardboard box and put it in recycling. The various papers had to be sorted and some she just put into baskets for us to look at later (that's much of what remains on the table by the stairs).
I plan to begin a new thread to continue documenting this TOSSING, AGGRESSIVELY program.
