Welcome!!!! This is a fun way to get started if you are a newbie, or if you are stuck and/or don't know where to start... or what to do next. The dice game here at SOoS has been evolving over time. Lately several of us have been using the "Game Board Method". But you can adapt the rules in whatever way works for you. You can also play the "Pick from a hat, sack, or bag Game", here. You don't have to make a list for that!!! (Just put little pieces of paper with individual tasks on them and draw from the hat, sack or bag & go do it & check back in here!!!) Directions for Dice Game: A. Make a list:1. bedroom 2. bathroom 3. kitchen 4. living room 5. dishes 6. laundry 7. pile of mail/bills/papers 8. yard work B. Roll a real or virtual die, (there's one at random.org) C. Go work in that area for a 10-15 minutes, or what ever works for you. If I roll a 2, I go in the bathroom and work for 10 minutes, or until I toss 10 items, or whatever quickly achievable goal I want to set for myself. D. Come back and post your accomplishment. E. Roll again and move ahead to that spot on the virtual board. For example, if I roll a 3 after my last roll (2), that moves me to 5. and I go and do some dishes. You don't have to post your list. You may keep it on paper. Suggestion: Take a break, drink some water, eat a small healthy snack after every 3 or 4 turns. Here's the link for random.org.www.random.org/diceHave fun! It's more fun when there are several people doing this at the same time! The above post has been copied and edited using posts from the previous few months. Ally and Seashell both contributed to those posts. Please feel free to copy and edit as you see fit in future months. Cando

Spent 15 minutes on Breakfast Bar. Took a long time due to long phone calls from DMom. *2 things I am not sure what to do with: 1)necklace brought back from Friends/clients of DH's from their trip to Israel a few months ago. (That's how long it's been sitting on the Breakfast Bar). It looks like a very inexpensive one. Just a black rope (like a shoelace, really) with polished stone pendent that has a Star on it. Glue glop on the side of it. I don't like it, but it was very thoughtful of them. I want to just put it in the giveaway bag (I don't know anyone to give it to). So, wrote note and put it with note to see if DH wants it or wants to give it to someone or another idea. Any other suggestions, y'all? 2)Also, a piece (rock?) from the site of the ruins from the Temples... brought back from the same people from Israel. It is pretty small, but I don't want it. I don't even think they were supposed to have taken it. Don't know if it is really a real piece of it, anyway. What do we do with this? Also, a note placed with it and set where DH will see it. I bet he will want to keep it. That's fine with me (as it is small and may mean something to him), but not on my breakfast bar. Suggestions on this, too. *4 cards/pictures in Memory Box -- these are from the mantle over the fire place, cause I had to declutter it to find a place for something from the Breakfast Bar. *Put Menorah that these same people brought for us back from Israel on the mantle/fireplace. *Re-arranged stuff from mantle after continually knocking things onto the floor *Put nice clock (needs new battery) that was one of our wedding gifts, I think. 27+ years ago. Could have been something we bought right after we got married. I don't really care for it, anymore. We both loved it, originally. *put candle with holder in giveaway bag (put together for me by my DD.. years ago) *put card to send to someone in my bag of cards in my bedroom *put 10 cards in recycle bag *put 1 photo card in trash (a business client of DH's -- photos of her dogs) Next roll: "5" -- that brings me to "15 minutes going thru an old purse" Poof! 15 minutes spent going thru old fanny pack from 2007. Can' believe that a Fanny Pack can hold that much stuff!!! *put 2 coupons with my coupons -- these I HOPE I will use for free food from Chick Filet. No expiration date! *2 pads in cabinet in back bathroom *big handful of receipts into 2007 Tax Box *5 papers to be filed *24 papers into recycle bag Next roll: "5" = "Clean around back of kitchen sink, moulding and around faucets". poof! Howdy Cando, thanks for starting up a May Dice Game thread! I will play for a while until my late afternoon dog walks.
It sounds ike you are tackling some hard jobs--getting rid of those odds and ends can be the worst because it feels wrong to just throw them away. I would say, since the necklace didn't come from anyone really close to you I'd let it go. And since you're not sure if the rock is even what you think it is, I'd let that go too. I don't think you'll miss them later.
Here is my list:
2 Dust or wash surfaces in kitchen (whichever comes up first). 3 Dust or wash surfaces in kitchen (whichever comes up first) 4 Sweep or vaccuum kitchen and pantry (whichever comes up first) 5 Sweep or vaccuum kitchen and pantry (whichever comes up first) 6 Change blade in scraper 7 Wash sand 8 Choose greeting cards 9 Empty trip bag 10 Books 11 Books 12 General decluttering

Forgot to click "post" again when I wrote my last message.
Sweeping the kitchen and pantry sounded so easy--but first I had to put away my step stool, move my shopping cart, pick up some grocery bags from the floor--no wonder I never clean!
It's done now.
Next roll: 6, change blade in scraper

Diane[/size] HaHa, Diane! I am the same way!
Thanks for backing me on getting rid of those 2 things. That's what I would do if they were only given to me, but they were given to DH and he brought them home. So, I feel like I've got to at least check with him, first. This is where I get into trouble... Rather than just doing what I wanna do.
Cleaned around the back of the kitchen sink, the moulding, and around the faucets. That took 30 minutes!
I'm obviously not using the right cleaners cause I don't think that I should have to scrub that hard and for so long.
Next roll: "8" -- Dance for 30 miinutes. (don't want to do this now, but I will...) Going to change my clothes first and brush my teeth, so may take longer. Poof!CD

Cando, scrubbing bubbles works on more than tubs. Spray it on heavily and leave it and come back and wipe. Or toss a wet soapy towel on the area and let it sit for 30 minutes and come back and wipe. Use alcohol on chrome and mirrors. It's a miracle worker.

Seemed silly to dust and not wash, so I washed them too. This means things like back of stove, top of fridge and microwave--all the places that don't get regular cleaning. One thing I didn't do--this is a project all to itself--the shelves that hold bins of storage containers (I don't have any cabinets in my kitchen, just shelves). I will have to get my ladder out for that job.
Next roll: 10, books.

So since I told Cando to throw something out, I threw an item out that I've saved for years longer than I should have. I had a little flat cloth pillow (I don't know what you'd call it) filled with herbs, you're supposed to put your hot cup of tea or whatever on it, and the heat brings out the smell of the herbs. Well, first of all, I don't drink anything hot. Secondly, the herbs are so old that even crushing them up through the cloth barely makes them smell. And, the last couple of years there was a grease stain on it. The reason I've kept it is because there's a wonderful design on it, of an old Victorian style Santa feeding some animals out of a bag of food. But it's looking bad now and it's time to let it go, so it's in the garbage.
Next roll: 9, empty trip bag

Diane -- You are really moving as usual! So, I danced for 30 minutes. Felt good to do that. More fun than usual... I don't like to exercise alone... love to be in a group or with a partner. Next was "5" - dishes... but somehow didn't post. I unloaded dishwasher & got 1 glass soaking. Next roll: "8" -- "wash counter around the microwave." Need to add a couple have-tos in with this one. Fold blankets that are in dryer & put them away. Also, dehair washing machine. Then, figure out how to empty mini pet hair vac. Lost directions, so will have to look on-line. Poof! CD
