Amen to not just posting when things are peachy! We all understand the overwhelming feelings and the feelings of inadequacy. Speaking for myself, one of the reasons why I have those feelings is because I compare myself to the people around me who are born organised or love cleaning. We can try to express our feelings and frustrations to them, but chances are they won't really understand the way someone who has been there personally.
On that note, I'm feeling better compared to yesterday. But I'm still easily frustrated with the slow progress. I came across an article online yesterday about the Pareto Principle and suggested a new way to prioritise tasks. Rate each task twice - once for how much of an impact it will make by being completed and again for the amount of effort it would take to complete. Then divide the numbers to determine a priority level that will accomplish the most with the least effort. Energy is not my forte and I'm easily discouraged so I'm hoping this will enable me to do more that makes a difference.
Today:
Get out of bed Take meds and eat Use the milk before it spoils Feed pets Shower
Projects: Tidy bedroom Tidy bathroom Tidy upstairs hall

Change of plans for me, I guess.
I had half of a tooth break off while I was sleeping last night and it's still a holiday here, so the ache in my face is just adding to my reasons to do nothing today.
I have eaten (bulgar wheat with wild mushrooms and a fried egg - I figured they'd be soft enough to manage.)
I have taken my AM meds. Now to remember the next 5 times. Lol
I've decided to go back to tackling the downstairs hall. Sorting out the carpet and leads will accomplish a lot with a reasonable amount of effort but then that's one room done!

CB -- Sorry to hear about toof... I think you will really like having completion so I am glad you will work on the carpet.
RR -- Oh, RR. I am kinda scared of having a problem with earwax. That can be painful! I hope that it didn't hurt her too badly.
Water:
thyroid med *med to Puppy *fed dogs *made phone call re: DS's Security Deposit for his on-campus apartment at UT-Dallas. They dinked him and each of his roommates $5.00 for "drip pans replacement". What?! It is not the amount that is the issue. Isn't that a maintenance item that apartment complex should be handling and not passing on to them? He does not even know what a drip pan is... I just will ask them about it and then depending on their response will ask them exactly where it states about it in the contract. I don't want to waste my time over 5 bucks, but these students are really at their mercy. $5.00 times many students is a lot of money for them. Grades, etc. are held up if not paid or as they did with my DS just subtract it from the security deposit and count on the fact that no one will want to bother with it since it is only 5 dollars. Or maybe it is in the contract? Anyway, I called and they don't open until 10am... *called them, again. It is for drip pans under the burners! They replace them if they have a stain on them. Ah! Understandable. had Puppy bring me broken Styrofoam faucet cover that had been blown into the yard & I tossed it in the trash. Sweet Puppy! I didn't know if she would understand what I wanted her to do, but she did. I don't know if it was the word "fetch" or not, but I know she knows "help me" & "bring to Momma". The thing she really seemed to have trouble figuring out was what it was that I wanted her to bring to me. I just pointed in the general direction and she finally got it after looking excited and sniffing the ground trying to figure out what it was that I wanted her to bring. As reward, I tossed the ball to her a few times. (I've noticed that thing out there in the yard for the past few days & finally decided to do something about it).
Playing Dice Game: 15 minutes on current beige purse *3 pens into pen holder in kitchen *2 receipts to be shred *1 2011 receipt into tax box *some papers/receipts to be filed 2 keys put on key rack in Office of Doom *2 coupon cards into my wallet *wrote address in my address book, wrote notes on computer. *20 papers/receipts into recycle bag *1 gum wrapper in trash made file folder to put some important notes in & put in file cabinet * cleaned crockpot *put new alarm clock in DD's room *put her old alarm clock in giveaway bag *put my new shoes in my room put Office in a Bag in Office (room of doom) *made list for the rest of the day *printed list *tossed 1 magazine & 7 papers *thawed beef unloaded dishwasher *washed dishes *went thru mail & incoming papers *11 papers into recycle bag *1 into trash 1 coupon where I keep those *1 is for DH *2 into Office in a Bag *got box ready to ship to DD *tad of bookkeeping took calcium pill *took bp med *2 papers to be filed *put away hand-washed stuff from drainboard
Done with Dice Game for today...
*dressed2shoes, brushed teeth & hair, lipstick removed & tossed vacuum cleaner bag that was in old vacuum & put new one in it. *got belts, etc. bagged & have those & vacuum ready to take & give away *changed clothes into workout clothes & chapstick, brushed teeth, again. *went to first night of aerobics class. i enjoyed it. It has been years since I've done aerobics. Great music! *picked up RX from Wal-mart neighborhood pharmacy made payment at Macy's *went to Braum's and bought chicken to cook for dogs & DH. Both dogs & him are sick at their stomach this afternoon. DH had to come home early from work. *cooked the chicken *made rice *took DS and his friend to UT - Dallas where we thought we'd be able to play racquetball...but they were closing in a little while & because my DS is not going to classes this summer - it was going ot be incredibly expensive. So... we will have to reschedule for another day & earlier time. made some cookies *made Stuffed Peppers *folded/hung load of laundry *put that load away *moved load into dryer got dishes, mixing bowls, etc. all soaking *emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag *swiped crumbs from sink counters & top of stove *swept in kitchen *took calcium pill & Vit D pill washed sinkful of dishes plus 2 cookie sheets, racks and mixing bowl.

I'm late joining. I missed the thread changing. oops. I feel like this summer is a lost cause. There is so much living going on around here, I feel that just doing basic maintenance is all I can manage. There is so much that needs doing and I am not sure I am physically able to do everything.
The #1 focus this summer is the kids. They need loving attention and entertainment. Just keeping the house somewhat neat and keeping everyone in clean clothes is exhausting. This morning I have taken 2 loads out of the dryer and I have a load in the washer. I have done the dishes, and mopped the floors in the kitchen, breakfast room, dining room, living room and foyer to get up Lake Urine from geriatric golden, and the Piddle Puddles from the hellion pooch. AND Chased the Hellion Dog through 3 neighborhoods just to start the day off right.
Took meds, unloaded and loaded dishwasher, got 2 loads out of the dryer and dumped them on P.I.L.E. started 2 loads of wash.
Vacuumed the living room carpet and folded the throws that were scattered about. Got all beds made.
Now we are going downtown to get a gelato at the world's best coffee shop and to ride the free trolley to see all of the downtown area. We may end up at the peanut shop to get a bag so we can go feed the squirrels in the square.
I have set low goals to toss out 20 items from the garage and 10 items from my room. I hope I manage to get everything I need to do today done.
For a fun time, last night I bought pizza dough and let each person build a half a pizza to their own specifications. We had pepperoni, sausage, bell pepper, sliced tomatoes, ham, bacon, bell peppers, slivered onions, mushrooms, shrimp, pineapple, banana peppers, black olives, and lots and lots of cheese. There were some interesting combinations but all were DELICIOUS and the kids had a ball making them. They said that they only want this kind of pizza from now on. If you ever want to entertain and feed kids at the same time, I highly recommed it!!! It's surprisingly easy to do and to clean up afterward.

Getting a late start today since I was busy all morning and then had my group this afternoon. I am still hoping to get quite a bit done around here today but am under doctors orders to take it slow and easy for a while. I saw one of my docs today and he did a workup and found out why I have been dizzy. My iron level was extremely low so I had an infusion this morning and my b12 was at 158 which is below normal also. Both of my docs have said I need to get in to see a nutritionist asap and am waiting to hear back when I can get in. Plus younger ds is sick with a bad sore throat and cough so I have him laying in the family room watching one of his favorite shows and gave him some med to help. took shower and got dressed got boys up and dressed gave boys breakfast gave boys their meds got boys off to school had breakfast took my meds did bible reading went to doctors checked mail went thru email went to group set up younger ds and gave him meds watched soul surfer with boys cleared 1/4 of my floor maintained family room maintained boys room washed dishes started loading dishwasher gave boys night time meds fed boys dinner started going thru piles on my floor did reading with older ds gave boys baths got boys ready for bed got boys to sleep

Tossed 50 random items from the kitchen. Mostly trashy stuff so it shouldn't count but it made me feel better to count it.

Late entry for June 5, 2012 Tuesday
Made it home before midnight. Had a good trip, even tho it was for a sad event. Everything worked out okay. Able to find my way around okay. MapQuest steered me wrong, but my trustworthy GPS did the trick, along with two guys who know the area. I wrote down the directions in my notebook.
Glad to be back in my own house. The hotel was nice, but I didn't have time just to hang out and enjoy it.
Well, I'm rambling, so I'd better be quiet for now. I did drink 16 ounces of water today, along with 16 oz of iced black coffee. Ate all the wrong things today. Junk food, greasy, fatty. No fruits or veggies, no whole grains, no legumes. Oh, it's time to go do bed.

Saf, I think we all deserve a little healthy lifestyle amnesty from time to time! Glad you're back safely. Andrea, I'm glad the doctor had some blood results that could be treated. My grandmother had similar deficiencies and supplementing them made a huge difference. (claiming amnesty because I have more direct responses to add but am having a brain trump ) Ah here we go... Cando I love that puppy helped pick up for you. I've thought a bit recently about how nice it would be to have a service dog to help me pick up things I drop and can't reach, but I know I wouldn't qualify for one. I even had the momentary thought of trying to train my own. Di, I am jealous of your DIY pizzas. I'm hoping to do something similar with friends sometime if I can ever get this place cleaned up. I've had a busy morning. 1.) Sorted dental appointment for tomorrow 2.) Made nurse appointment for next week (still trying to stop smoking) 3.) Dropped nasty neighbour's post through his door 4.) Picked up prescriptions 5.) Made arrangements to see best friend before dentist tomorrow 6.) Picked up an assortment of extra vitamins and some night time cough syrup for my poorly immune system 7.) Trying to sort out a plan of action for today but my brain is fuzzy.

I don't have a clue as to what I am going to do to entertain kids today. I may pack a picnic and drive to a state park and let them walk in the woods but these kids are such Air Conditioned Couch potatoes that I'm not sure they would enjoy it. Maybe I will just take them swimming at the Y so I don't have to listen to whinging.
Got up, took meds, baked biscuits, sort of cleaned kitchen, started laundry, and am waiting for kids to wake up. I'm sure not going to WAKE them.
I will get them to straighten up their own messes and then we will head out to do something fun.

Glad you`re back safely, Saffron! WTG, cando`s puppy ! My silly dog doesn`t fetch, and would probably be all morning trying to figure out what to pick up (every stick in the yard? no?) if she did . I did have thoughts of training her to do some useful things when she seemed to pick things up quickly as a puppy, but she never quite caught on. My mom was in the hospital yesterday, went into the ER in the morning with chest pains, but she didn`t have a heart attack & all the testing was good, even did a heart cath last night. She does have some blockages, but not the the degree that they would do anything yet, and her cardiologist said the blockages were actually looking better than last time. She has coronary artery disease, from her rhuematoid arthritis, so she already knows the warning signs & has plenty of meds. My folks have been planning a weekend trip, my dad`s elder brother is having a party for his 50th wedding anniversary, and they are still good to go. She`s being discharged this morning I was going to ask for prayers, but all is good, although any sort of prayers anytime are welcome We`re going to be keeping their whiny dog while they are gone. She does, literally, whine. And our youngest cat is scared of her. Fun times ahead this weekend I had a good doctor visit on Mon. A couple of weeks ago I had a scary thing, a blood vessel on my chest was inflammed & hard. It was really painful & kept getting larger, so I was very afraid it was going to keep expanding & give me blood clots in dangerous places. I had a bunch of tests, and saw a couple of doctors. Turns out it basicly an inflammed varicose vein, just in a very wierd place. It has all gone down now, although it is still a little lumpy, really surprised the Dr. that it subsided so quickly. I have to take increased doses of blood thinner now & just keep an eye on it. Changed my infusion site on Sun., right now it`s at it`s worst, very painful, so hopped up on pain pills & not doing a lot. Yesterday I ended up spending time at the hospital with mom. I did get the front room swept- very hairy! Just 2 small piles of paper left to deal with. It needs mopped, but not going to worry about that today. Right now I`m waiting on my folks to come pick up my mom`s purse, which I took home from the ER yesterday- didn`t think it was a great idea to have it sitting on a chair there while she was alone & napping! Going to try to go back to bed after they get here, not sleeping well lately. Today so far: took DH to work stopped at gas station for milk call to mom call to DD`s Dr. call to my Dr. catch up on internet stuff Goals: scoop cat boxes, eek, kept forgetting that one each time I went downstairs, and they need it badly! Will have to get to it in the morning, not going back down there load dishwasher, will run it in the morning with breakfast dishes laundry sweep kitchen floor clean bathroom financial work, checked bank by phone, that`s as far as I got had DS vacuum stairs & hallway, all the floors are getting furry quickly recently watched movie with DD, "Some Like it Hot"- we just watched the new Marilyn Monroe movie last week & wanted to see one she did, pretty funny!
