Saturday - Well, I guess I miss my dolls a little bit... ****** Worked on shelving units today. Organized a few bins and bought some labels and a new marker. Opened up the new marker and the cap came off and I got permanent marker all over my hand. Stopped working on bins and labels today because I was getting ink everywhere. Ended the day soaking in the tub and finally got the black ink off my hand and fingers. Margarita

Man am I jealous! I too have a garage full of stuff. Boxed, from when we moved in three years ago:( At one point it was organized, but still boxed. As the years have passed the kids started going throw and getting stuff out, I didn't want anything in the house till we had a system for putting stuff away. Well that idea went out the window quick. So long story short, I need to clear it out, period, point blank!!! To top it off, I have a storage I want gone as well, not only is it causing me stress, it's costing me MONEY I don't have, as the rent on it just doubled!!!!!!
What prompted you to start the garage project? Maybe you can help light a fire under my butt!!!
Well at least I got the patio done, which meant tossing stuff I didn't think I could do without:) Yay me!!!!!

- Boxed Collectible Dolls all gone.
All stored and boxed "stuff" from the garage GONE.
No more stacked Rubbermaid Totes.
Gone - Gone - Gone - Goodbye stuff!
All that is left to do now, is to organize the shelves and go through the bins of tools and painting supplies, etc. Sort and Label them. Reorganize them neatly on the shelves.
These things are much easier for me to go through than the totes full of dolls and stuff from the house, though.
Hoarded junk in boxes all gone. Gone. Gone. Gone.
Garage still has too many things in it, but is a gazillion times better without all those stupid boxes of stuff stacked up everywhere. Sitting there year after year....being hauled state to state... from house to house...
Goodbye stuff. I will not miss you. From 50 totes to nothing.
Gone! Gone! Gone!
Oh, and it didn't hurt at all like I thought it would!
GOODBYE STUFF Saturday -
Well, I guess I miss my dolls a little bit... Margarita ! woo hoo ! I am so AWED by all you have done ! The vast peace from being freed from 50 totes full of stuff ... will probably be greater than the little bit of missing the dolls. Great job! -

Thanks for the nice comments! My garage has been a thorn in my side for quite some time. It just looked so stupid with all those totes stacked up. I was embarassed by it. I bumped into things. Things fell over. I couldn't find anything. It looked stupid. I always thought of how much it cost to move those things over and over and then they just sat there... Three things motivated me the most: 1. I went to a garage sale and saw somebody else with a garage piled up like mine and realized how pointless it was to have boxes and boxes of things just sitting on top of each other unopened for year after year. Plus, the thought that I have been dragging these things across country didn't help... 2. There was a post I read on this site (which wouldn't be polite to identify), but it made me realize that these things are not important enough to let them rule my life and living conditions. I was "making" them much more important than they were. Because every time I opened them they would remind me of the past, and money spent, and of other people, etc. They are not "me." They are just remnants of my past. Things that should have been discarded long ago. 3. I got really sick and had to lay in bed for a couple of weeks under Dr's orders, and it gave me time to think. I was quite ill - with an infection, that 3 out of 4 Doctors/Surgeons I saw thought it was a type of cancer that had a very bad prognosis. After taking over 300 antibiotic capsules over the past 5 weeks, they are pretty sure it is just a massive infection. I am still not completely better, though. { Am trying to avoid a biopsy, because of the infection.} But, my first thought was about my stuff and that I would never get to go through it. As soon as the bed rest part was over with, then I just started emptying boxes and taking them to the thrift shop. Yeah, it's just a garage. But, it's my final frontier. Margarita P.S. I don't miss my dolls anymore Edited to add: Project Done

Matgarita, your awesome. I know when I was cleaning my patio off I kept thinking, if anything had happened to me, my kids would have had to deal with all this mess. You see, this happened to my best friend who was a level 3/4. She passed away from lung cancer and her teenagers, husband and parents had to deal with all the junk piled up to the ceiling and find homes for all of the animals she had collected, and she had LOTS of them, even skunks!! That one thought really kept me going and will probably help me get the rest of my crap cleared out. I should add that the cost of storing it is unacceptable. and I WONT EVER MOVE ALL OF THIS STUFF AGAIN!!!!!!! It truly is sickening to think of all the money I have dolled out storing it and moving it. AGH!!!!!!
I vow to clear out my garage before Nov.1st., and my storage emptied by Dec.1st. Thats a pledge to myself, my children and to all of you here supporting me.
Thanks Margarita, now see what you've gone and done..........you lit that fire under my a** and MOTIVATED ME!!!!!!! THANKS:)
See new thread***

Great job, Margarita! What an awesome thing you've done! It has really motivated me to keep working on my "journey out of squalor." All this junk and garbage is sucking the life out of me. I could be living in a clean, neat environment where I can be the creative, artistic person I used to be. I want to throw open my doors on a moment's notice and invite the world in. No more hiding behind closed doors, pretending to be asleep, or "in the shower." I want to LIVE again! I hope your infection clears up completely. Blessings to you, Margarita!
