Ally & hiding: It actually sounds like you both have a healthy handle on your t-shirt situation, not the Hoarders TV show scenario I was envisioning.

I am trying to build a treasure list. I find it difficult. I suppose that is just an indication of my confusion about what items are most important to me. At this point, I think it would be easier to list what I definitely don't want to keep as opposed to what I want to keep.
For example, I have some nice fabric sitting around. I like the way it looks and feels, but c'mon, I don't sew except for repairs. I don't even like sewing! I used to try to force myself to make clothes because it was something that I thought I should do. But I never liked it. I guess I can tolerate making simple curtains or hemming but that's it. Why keep the fabric when someone else really will use it and enjoy it? So fabric won't be on my treasure list but what about the 10,000 things I'm not sure about?
I am thinking out loud here and poking fun at myself. But what I said is true.

Hiding, What I've been doing, it sorting things into 4 categories.
1. Treasure. Something that I like, I use and definitely want to keep. 2. Trash. Obviously broken, or just junk. 3. Donate-able. Stuff that is in good shape that does not fit into my treasure category, Like clothes that don't fit, and book I don't need anymore. This may include some fabric that I bought for something I will never make, 4. Undecided. Not sure if it's a treasure or not... actually probably not a treasure but I feel some level of attachment to it, and it's too hard/stressful for me to release right now. If I force myself to toss it, I lose my energy, and will be unable to keep pressing forward.
This undecided area isn't part of "SHED", but I am finding it works for me. Sometimes just a couple of days later, I realize that most of those things really aren't treasures and they need to go. It seems so much less stressful to do it this way.

How about if you were told that you were being relocated to the Alpha Centauri neighborhood, and you could bring only two suitcases of stuff? The basics (food, clothing, shelter) would be available once you got there, but anything personal... two suitcases. That's all.
What would go into the bags first?

Point of entry is my hall closet. There will be very little that can be thrown out or donated, as this is my practical closet. I have broken the contents down into four categories:
1. Dog care 2. Personal care 3. Apartment care 4. Miscellaneous (things I need to keep but that don't fit anywhere else)
Since I already have a couple of plastic transparent storage containers that are working well, I am going to get rid of the canvas holders and go with more of the other. That way, I can easily see what is in the containers. I don't like messing with lids, but since I don't use the items very often, it shouldn't be a problem. So, I need to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to get some containers.
Treasures will have to wait until I return to the bedroom of doom.

Wow, you sure ask difficult questions, Yoda. That is, I mean AH. Good question to make me think. First in the bag would be picture album of my parents (long deceased).

These questions you must contemplate, if a SHEDi knight you would be.

As I am going through stuff, I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with old curtain rods and other things I'm not using right now. Right now most of my windows don't have curtains, but I'd like to change that. I guess I need somewhere to store the rods until I get the place cleaned up enough to hang curtains. I don't want to get rid of them and then have to buy new ones.

Curtain rods are expensive. I store my "not being used at this time" ones in the rafters of the garage. They are out of the way and don't end up getting damaged. I put any small hardware for them in baggies and tape the bags onto the rods.

I think it will be some time before I will be worthy of being called a SHEDi Knight and be wielding a Lightsabre. In the meantime I have many lessons to learn.
