Well Margarita did it, she motivated me beyond belief. She is my inspiration along with all of you lovely people . I know that I can count on all of you for support and know you wont let me fail in this gargantuan project. I will be posting pictures, as no one has ever seen the inside my garage so no one will recognize who it belongs, hehehe!!!!! I plan to work on it daily, even if for only 5min. My pledge is to get er done by Nov. 1, yes of this year So PLEASE prod me, keep that fire under my a** well lit, blazing, even. I promise I'll make you proud.

Okay, I'm here with the lighted torch. I know it's late. Maybe I'll come back in the morning when you can see outside in the garage. Did you post the photos yet? I'll have to check. I always like to read what people find in the areas they're working on. You know, I found a FIFTY dollar bill two days ago when I was decluttering the papers on my bed. Can you imagine? I had tucked it in an envelope for safekeeping. I'll check back tomorrow, Wednesday. I know you can do it, along with our help.

Thanks guys, thought my backside felt a little warm . I have to have my son help me post the pic's, as I've never done it before, ya I'm a picture posting virgin. Funny you should mention money, here I am flat broke and what did I find? A $10.00 dollar bill! Woohooo!!!!! saffron, I am a little jealous that you found more than me jk. Here is what I have done in the garage so far: washed two loads of the huge mountain of laundry. filled two trash cans of trash/unusable items, decent stuff goes to sva. cleaned out the working fridge in the garage/ need to swap it with the not working one in the house. cleared off a shelf. Seems my #1 problem is keeping from dragging stuff back onto the patio. The garage door leads off of the patio and since the garage is full, the patio would become a catch all. I really don't want to do this cause I fear it will become junkie again. NO, NO, NO, NO I don't want to do that again. So I'm trying to stay strictly in the garage, but it is difficult because there is no room to work!!There is NO WAY I'm going to open the garage door for the world to see!!!!I am so tempted to take stuff onto the patio to sort through, help!!!!! UGH!!! Why did/do I do this to myself? ? the only time I open the garage door is after midnight (when no one can see) to put the cans out and bring them back in:0

Hi need2bfree! I'm so impressed by what you've gotten done! I can understand your need to keep the patio junk-free, since you've worked so hard on everything, but if you need a staging area to efficiently work through stuff from the garage, could you put down a tarp or drop cloth on the patio and sort through material there? That way, the garage stuff would be confined to a particular area for just a limited time, rather than giving it permission to take over. Yay you! I am just so inspired by everything you've gotten done!

Hi Need2BFree, I sure know the feeling of being embarassed to open your garage. Not too long ago, I was taking my car out and my garage was at its worst. My neighbor drove by on his way to work and he saw it! And he shook his head in disgust... But, I drove around my neighborhood over the weekend when many garage doors are up, and noticed two things. 1. People who have sheds in their backyards have cleaner garages because they have places to put things. 2. It appears to be about a 50/50 ratio. Either the garages are really neat and clean, or they are all piled up. I saw about 1/2 each way. Remember - you're making more and more progress each day. Margarita

WHAT??? At least it sounds like you have enough space to keep your car inside. Isn't that what garages are for? What do people care how someone else's garage looks? I have never found myself noticing someone else's garage. Grrrr......people. I currently do not have a garage. I sure do miss having one!! Sorry to rant, people just bug me sometimes.

Oh, Annieokie - it's OK. First of all my garage is all done now, and being embarassed like that helped motivate me. It really did. I was kinda worried about being reported to the HOA. (Not that they'd care - but who knows?) So, it motivated me to push myself. And, secondly - the neighbor doesn't like me anyway - so, consider the source! (But, thanks for standing up for me ) Margarita Now, back to Need2BFree's thread.. Keep up the good work, kiddo! Was thinking about you today! Please don't give up because things are all piled up right now. Garages are a pain because you DO have to pile things up to move them around until you get things set up right. Don't be discouraged. You can do it. You can do it. You can do it!!!!

Can somebody PLEASE tell me how to post my pictures. I'm really scared to show these cause ya'll will see just how bad it really is:( We have a HOA. When we first moved in 3years ago I was told that someone said my garage was a fire hazard, mind you at that time I could park my car in there and it was just boxes stacked on one side. Plus we had just moved! A couple of months ago, they said they wanted to see how my garage door was working and needed to see the inside, to look at the hinges. Well I was going through some medical stuff and told them it was an inconvenant time, so they let it go. So yes the HOA can make my life a living hell if they see it as it is now, even though I have seen many garages here looking the same as mine . Even more good reason to get this taken care of ASAP!!!!! Garage update: I am working on the laundry pile and dumping trash (tomorrow is trash day) and adding stuff to my donation pile.

Sounds like you are doing a great job! Keep it up. You CAN do this. I don't have a garage, but we have a shed. My hubby has it filled to the roof. I have one small pathway in and out. So I am sure if we had a garage it would be way worse than yours is.

Still trying to get the pictures to load, UGH!!!! Anyway, with the help of you guys on chat the other night I was able to do six more loads of laundry. Also, I can now see the concrete floor!! Finally! I mean it's only a spot of about 2x2 but that little space had enough trash and clothes in it to fill a 33 gallon trash bag!!! Now I can open and close the fridge without forcing it Today: I cleared about three feet of the front inside of the garage, where the garbage cans are stored. Lots of trash and junk had fallen around there, so I can see more floor, yay me!!! I only have 19 days to get it finished, eeks! Well thats my plan anyway, cause then I get to start on the storage bin So keep your torches well lit, cause ya never know when I might need a little jump start I forgot to add that today at 11am, I see that my two garbage cans are dumped over and ALL of my trash is all over the place . I'm mortified!!! I have a different service, so my cans are the only ones out in a common driveway. Wholly crap, the cans were so full and heavy from all the cleaning that I couldn't lift them, I had to get my son's to help pick them up and collect everything that had fallen out, almost everything, mind you alot of the stuff wasn't bagged up, I had just thrown it into the can!!! I guess it was the wind that blew them over, but I kinda wonder cause they were so he ::)avy Hope no one took pic's for the HOA I feel like no good deed goes unpunished

What a shame your trash got dumped all over! Kinda like one step forward, and then another backward... And it wasn't even your fault! Stupid wind. But, you persevered and took care of it! You didn't just give up and say "I quit" like a lot of people would. Glad you had help. Nothing worse then lifting heavy trashcans. Sounds like you are making steady progress. Keep up the good work!
