Welcome Tassie... Yesterday I put two worn tires with rims for big item pickup for trash. This is once a month deal for bigger items, furniture, junk, etc. I can only use the wheelie bin for the other 3 weeks, if it doesn't fit in there, you can not put it out. YEH, I got rid of the other two tires, THREE years ago!
Today, I had to take my hand cart and go get the tires and bring back up driveway, and put behind the brick "screen" area where the wheelie goes. So much for getting rid of them. I called the garbage vendor and they said they will take two tires per household, per monthly pickup. BUT NOT ON RIMS! I will have to figure out where to bring them. I am not paying 12 dollar a tire disposal fee at a tire shop! I wonder if I "sneak" one in my wheelie, will they remember? We pay a set amount on our taxes, it is a lot, and it does not matter if you have almost 0 garbage like me, or you have overflowing like a lot of my neighbors. My guy friend might take them, he has access to a dumpster...
One Item a Day, can be a mindset. Of course you can do more, but if you get rid of something, anything, it will add up. It is a behavior change, you start thinking, do I need this, do I have room for this, what can I get rid of? Keep going all! The holidays are coming!
On my list, start going through the Christmas things. I have 30 years plus worth. I have not gone through the sentimental ornaments since I got divorced in 08. I can now, not a priority then! I have got new ornaments, some new, some thrift to start new, but will keep special ones. I have, like everything I own, a lot! I need to sort and get rid of some. I tossed two ugly stocking someone made me! With my name and the exes, no one will want them.. and I never used them, I had my own.
Keep going all. If I do a few items a day Christmas, be in good shape by Dec.

I have "get rid of one item" on my daily list. Most days I do much better than that … and I *need* to do better. But I want to establish the habit as an ongoing thing, forever. And I really do look at things differently now. So right now it's "AT LEAST one thing every day."

Friend dropped off kids and tried to drop off a four foot bear too." No thank you I can't use it!" popped right out of my mouth. I wasn't ending up with another stuffed animal. My item of the day was not to let it in in first place!!!

I cut up a large lotion bottle, got out the last of the lotion and threw it out. In the bedroom I found a handful of things to throw out. I also put some things in one bag as I had two open but half empty. I dusted damp cloth style in the bedroom and the mirrors too.
Add I put two brand new pairs of socks and two large new house dresses in a bag for donation.

I took over 35 cans of paints, stains, old pool chemicals, plaster and joint compound and used oil out to hazardous waste disposal place plus a television!!! I claim amnesty for that it worked but it had to go! Trash went out too.
They thought it was a multi house load...should've seen the look when i said it all came from my house. And to make it so bad it was previous resident's stuff!!!

Refrigerator plastic shelf broke and threw jars on inside of door to floor so a container of julienned carrots bit the dust. Shelf is trashed too! Have to order another one from manufacturer.
