PaperGrace, misssue, heretoday, boyswillbeboys, psquared04, angela, seashell, 60, Janie, positivelyflying, imamess (and wynken) lucie. Congratulations on your new habit. My sister says the same - and my mother. Do them straight away. To do that would be another step in the right direction for me. My dishes are washed tonight. Heading of to bath and bed.

I have to admit to not doing the dishes the past 2 nights. I've done a significant clearout of my bedroom yesterday and the loungeroom today instead. Both rooms are to the stage where I think a minimalist would be happy in them. I'm extremely stressed out, and I find clutter makes me feel even more out of control, so I'm working my way around the house, trying to make things as visually clear as I can.
I hope to get back on track with the dishes tomorrow.
Congrats to all those who are completing the task each day.

I didn't do breakfast dishes this morning, because of other things I had to get done. I have them soaking now while I am cooking the evening meal and will finish before bed.

positivelyflying and imamess. Don't be upset about other priorities taking center stage just now. Jump back in as you can, being gentle with yourself. You can do it without them rising up and taking control of your kitchen and home.
"positivelyflying" a minimalist house is is an amazing achievement - well done.

Thanks Wynken. Today I've almost caught up on the dishes. I still have a few more to do, but should have them up to date by the end of the day.
I will never be able to get the house completely minimalistic, because I have 3 messy kids, but at least I might be able to have my bedroom that way, and the living areas mostly decluttered. The kids rooms on the other hand have doors ;-P.

Good job, wynken, on getting dishes done early.
I got mine done for two nights, then last night our water pressure was way down, so dishes, along with laundry, had to wait for today. So, I went to bed leaving a sink full of dishes. There are enough that I will be able to rinse them and run the dishwasher this morning. It won't be a full load, but . . . amnesty.

Hi Wynken, I thought I'd add this tip in case it helps someone else: Wynken, I haven't been able to join your daily dishwashing club, but at least they haven't been sitting as long since I returned. One useful technique I used when dealing with the ookie dishes from the fridge: I used a small cooler to soak them in very hot, soapy, bleachy water. This kept the water hotter longer & saved me from having to reach my hand in to reach the bottom of the sink plug. I much prefer being able to upend the cooler to empty the water.

Dishes were all done last night, I bought new cutlery, 22.50 for settings for 8. All my old cutlery is boxed up to go byebye.
The kids, including the 2 year old are expected to pick up thier toys, clear the table when asked, clear their own dishes after a meal, the boys each occasionally sweep the living room, the do have jobs, dishes just isn't one I can handle them doing regularly yet.

I always hated when my grandmother wanted us to do dishes straight after each meal, I wanted to leave them for later. But after some years of strugle I started doing the same, I realized it is the only way to maintain it. So now when I get up from the table, I go and wash them straight away, before I go and do something else. It is sort of like the ending of the meal, like puting down your fork after the last bite now for me. Only I must not think about it, just do it, like a robot. Lucie, I think you have the right mindset about this task. Thank you for sharing what's working for you.

I fell down on the dishes the last two nights. Just couldn't get my gumption going.
Caught up today though. All done just now. Hooray!
Will try to get back on the habit of a clean kitchen before bed. I did it for two nights this week. Increasing my percentage of success is my goal.
