Differences: Using the @ symbol always displays your display name as you have it written and sends a notification to you. Using a link merely links whatever "name" is used to your profile.

testing shades of blue font on the "cloudy evening" skin background
Testing with a sample of the wording from Whatchamacallit thread-starter
testing "#1979e6" font
Some chattily exchange comments and support, and use this as a "group action blog". They enjoy the camaraderie.
Others remain completely and quietly focused on ONLY their own tasks -- and seeming to ignore everyone else. They just need to stay focused on getting things done.

Lion, as we add more of our old "skins" back to themes, the problem of personalized text will increase. There will be some colors that simply don't show up well on other color themes. Purple text looks great in Ladybug and the Lavender Petals theme, for example, but vanishes on Cloudy Evening's background with it's dark gray. This isn't a new problem, but your experiments reminded me that it might be a good idea to warn people that non-default text colors will cause problems to others. Thanks!
