Free workbooks for working through your emotions, etc. via CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). All online, downloadable and FREE. From the Centre for Clinical Interventions (CCI) -- a specialist state-wide program that is administered through North Metropolitan Health Services in Western Australia. Each workbook has several modules. Each module is a pdf. - ⭐ Disclaimer from the site:

Read the full disclaimer here: www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/disclaimer/index.cfm
IMPORTANT: Each "workbook" is several separate modules (chapters), downloaded one at a time. It is suggested that you do ALL the modules (chapters) sequentially within whatever workbook you choose. The download menu is at the following link: www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/consumers.cfmThere is a separate "workbook" on each of the following topics:- Improve your Assertiveness
- Coping with Depression
- Building Body Acceptance: Overcoming Body Dysmorphia
- Overcoming Distress Intolerance
(Learning to more effectively manage uncomfortable feelings ) - Overcoming Anxiety about your Health

These were published online for free ... in 2008. They are free to download for PERSONAL use only. - It is suggested that you work on these at home -- but discuss them with a mental health professional or a valid support group that works with the specific issue.
- Please use this resource RESPONSIBLY.
- Don't try to open all the deeply buried stuff -- if you are at home by yourself -- unless you have some support that you meet with on a regular basis, who truly understands the treatment for the specific issue.
I'm posting this resource here on the General Forum at SOS because I think it would be of benefit to both the registered members and the shy unregistered readers. Of special interest to hoarders and squalorers: the workbooks on the topics of Distress, Perfectionism, and Procrastination. Please note: Many of the topics apply more to our "Byways" section of the SOS forums. I'm just posting the whole list here for informational purposes.

I'm going through the module on overcoming distress and while this isn't entirely new in theory, it is helpful and well-written. I would definitely recommend these!

I had to laugh at myself. I decided to read through one of these packs yesterday. I've been procrastinating certain tasks lately. Doing them rakes up painful emotions. I've been avoiding the both by sleeping. I went through the whole pack on avoiding negative emotions, recognizing that sleeping was my method of avoidance and filling out the personal responses on the worksheets. I worked out a plan to tackle my tasks and emotional issue head on. Then I read the summary and went over each point carefully, reinforcing each decision. I could do this! I felt like I could do my tasks! I had the tools to handle the emotional baggage! I got offline... ...and promptly fell asleep in the chair! My sleep schedule is madly off kilter right now, so I went ahead and enjoyed my nap. I really HAD done the work and once I was awake, I spent the night working on the tasks I'd been avoiding and facing my negative emotions. It is done and I feel much better, but I thought you might get a chuckle out of my detour! Thanks for posting this. It is very helpful.

Irony: Downloading the procrastination one as a means to procrastinate. Yup. That's me for you.

Thank you for posting! I'm currently working my way through the assertiveness modules and I've already done a few of the exercises. This is perhaps the most helpful online CBT that I've encountered.
Thanks again!

It's seems that I did a Step Six (from 12step programs) becoming "entirely ready" for a problem to be removed. (Sick and tired of being paralyzed by emotional chaos! Enough!) And a Step Seven -- asking higherpower to remove the problem. [One of my forms of "communication with higherpower" is ... to reach out with my recovery buddies and say what's bothering me, and that I want some help with the block. Every time I articulate to someone that I need help with a specific issue, it becomes clearer in my mind what I need/want to resolve, and I'm "putting it out there" to the Universe ... and ... this eventually becomes a sort of prayer.] ... and then I came across these workbooks. The workbooks are completely secular with no mention of spirit, higherpower, god, etc. Yet, to me, they feel heaven-sent. I've spent several weeks working through each of the modules of the workbook on the topic of Mastering Your Worries: (overcoming chronic worrying and/or Generalized Anxiety Disorder) I haven't finished yet. But I've gone through most of them. There was one module that rubbed me the wrong way. But the rest of the anxiety/worry modules are just amazing. I cannot tell you how AMAZING this has been for me. Life-changing.The worrying is just ... gone.
