I sit here looking at 3 baskets of clean laundry and multiple loads in the laundry room as well as in hampers in other rooms. And I think to myself, "I can not possibly be alone." Do you have a hard time keeping up with laundry? Realizing that every person is different .... different household sizes and laundering needs. Some may have washer and dryer in house, some may go to a laundry room or a laundromat. Whatever your case, we all have to wash our clothes right? I find I go through spurts. I will have a week where I do a load a day .... 2 loads a day .... keep things up. And then I am tired from work, kids, dishes and everything else. And the laundry sits. Then I have to do the marathon washing and do 5-10 loads in a weekend!
My personal goal is to do a load a day. If I am so caught up and don't have to wash, then at least checking the laundry .... gathering up and taking note of what I have to do for the next day.
Come join me!! Post your success and your stumbling blocks! Post every day if you like ..... once a week ..... just come on in and say "done" if that works for you. And feel free to encourage each other and cheer for all!

I also pile up dirty laundry and put it off. My pro cleaner guy recommended setting one day a week as "wash day," but I have yet to do that. Procrastination might be my middle name.

Hello Messymama69,
Please count me in, as I have to do 1 load per day to even keep up . There are two adults and 2 kids living here and I keep my grandson 1 year old and I do his laundry. I have always had "Mount Washmore" until now. If I get carried away I try to wash all the dirty laundry and then I stop my 1 per day. That's no good either.
PS Oust I would love to know how you wash your clothes by hand. and how do you dry them?

I tend to keep up with the washing, and the drying. but the folding and putting away and getting rid of old, ripped, stained things doesn't happen.
I have a small laundryroom which is piled high with clothes, towels, and sheets that have been washed, but then just piled on top of other clean laundry, and then the piles overtake the room.
My washing machine no longer works and needs to be replaced. A new one is being delivered tomorrow. My present task is to make a spot to put the dryer, which is currently on top of the washing machine, and then make a path, wide enough to get the washing machine to the door. I'm hoping that the delevery man will take it away from there, and drop the new one off until I can repair the floor in the laundryroom, which I hope to do on Wednesday. Then once I get the new machine in, I need to start sorting out, folding, donating, tossing. So much to do, So little time.

Hello Ally,
Congrats for getting a new washer and a new laundry room floor. I have had trouble putting away clothes too. Then I had to start only dealing with the load I'm working on to completion before working on another. Somehow I would exhaust myself ...washing too many and then I would have a bunch of folded piles sitting around...then they would fall over and get trampled on. The truth was my closets and drawers were full of clothes and it was hard to squeeze anything else in. When I wanted to find an article of clothing in the stuffed drawers...I had to unload the drawer to find it. Things are better now...but I feel another clothing purge coming on.

Ally you have a new washer that's great. For drying my clothes I bought a clothes horse from Walmart I think it was. Around$15white plastic and it works really well. I also have two small clothes lines across the balcony. We are not technically allowed clothes lines, but I have been doing it for 2 years and no one said a thing. I have a barrier that gives me privacy apart from things hanging up high. Then I try not to put too much out and no bright colors to attract attention..... and def no undies mine or his....I don't want any complaints. So I am always using one or other or both methods to dry things. I often have the line with dark t shirts on all the undies inside with socks etc inside then shorts and pants go outside when the first load is dry. Like I said I don,t over crowd my line because of the neighbours...... but I live a couple flights above the laundry room and can smell the dryers eating people's quarters when its 90 degrees....crazy

Well today I lost the focus I really needed with some purging of craft items, paper and coupons at my desk. But I did manage to get my hands on some of our laundry. Folded & put away 1 load towels Folded & put away 1 load clean sheets Folded & put away extra comforter Folded/Hung & put away 1 load of darks Folded 1 load #1 kiddo's stuff - need to put away tomorrow. Still a load and a half that didn't get folded. And more to wash of course. But I made a dent in what was sitting here already clean and washed a bit more. Update: Before crawling in bed, I took care of the half a load I had sitting in my room. I had picked out a few things to wear for the day and then decided I wanted things done quick. Also tossed in a new sheet & small throw in the wash before going to bed. Then tossed those in the dryer before work and one kiddo's accident sheets hubby had thrown in the laundry room at 10:30 pm.

I washed my clothes in the washing machine and i use to wash my clothes twice in a week i think the load burden of clothes will be less if I wash my clothes twice or thrice a day.

When my laundry piles up, I grab everything, do a quick sort (darks, lights, towels, gentle-wash,etc) then take everything to the laundromat. Load up as many machines at once as needed, then let them do the work. I bring everything home to dry, fold, put away. It takes up most of the day but I feel wonderful afterwards, knowing I have clean sheets and towels, plenty of clean clothes. It does take most of the day but that's good. It stops me from sitting down and ruminating about my bad life. What works even better for me is to do one load every morning. It's not too hard.

There is ONE washing machine in my building and it is broken. Fortunately, the Laundromat is only a short block away. I will try to let this thread propel me to go there this morning.
Think of me while you're doing laundry in your pajamas, outside of store hours.

Congrats on already getting going on your challenge! May I join you. I have washed 20 loads worth of laundry in the past two days. (Some at laundromat in double, triple loads.. but 20 normal sized loads worth. I tend to do maintenance laundry and wear the same stuff over and over again while a whole bunch of other just sits. This massive amount of laundry included, 6 large blankets, 2 sets of sheets, two coats, bedroom curtains and bathroom mats and shower curtain. I have closet and drawers ready to get everything put away properly (and not just piled on top of dressers to eventually get mixed in with dirty laundry.... I am going to put it away then create a laundry system. I have a clear and dark green tote bin that I hope to put in bottom of closet. By the way, it's just me here, this should not be hard for me! cheers to keeping up on laundry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think of me while you're doing laundry in your pajamas, outside of store hours. Good luck puppybox! I think I have at least 3 loads to wash today to catch up (could be more) plus have one load of clean clothes from last night that was washed and I was too tired to take care of then. And linens in the machines that will need to be either put on a bed or folded & put away. Really depends on my special needs kiddo today too if I have another load or two of bedding to wash, which is one thing that throws my plans of getting other stuff done.
