I definitely need to join this thread! I don't have a problem getting the laundry done as such, I have a couple of loads of towels to go in, and that's all, but it's after it is washed that I have problems. I'm fortunate enough to be able to dry outside, and I love pegging the clothes out, but then I forget to bring them in again. Invariably it will rain, and then they will need another rinse (I do often use the hose pipe for this, ). Even when I do bring them in, I just leave them in a pile in the back room. My ironing pile that is on the sofa almost reaches the ceiling. I can't put the towels away because the chest that they go in on the landing has so much clutter on top of it. I can't put the bedding away because the hot press is full up with stuff that shouldn't be in there. And I can't put any of my or OHs clothes away, because there is so much clutter in front of the dresser and our wardrobes. The kids keep their rooms tidy (ish), but their clothes don't get put away because I'm too ***. I need to hold myself accountable for this situation, and stop putting it off..

So nice you can hang your clothes to dry catherina. Oh I know I would forget them if I could do it that way. I feel like I am at the point where I need to sets of machines with all the bedding we wash for my special needs daughter. *sigh* My biggest problem is once it's washed, it sits in baskets unfolded. Still have baskets from the other day. Going to work on some tonight.

We got a new washer last weekend. It's so much bigger than our previous one.
That's great for number of loads per week, but it makes for a lot of clothes to put up at one time.
The only way I have learned to handle laundry is to do everything without a break. No more leaving clothes on the dryer or in baskets. When it's done, it gets put away.

@mamaangie, my old neighbours son has incontinence problems. They used to use two pairs of pullups each night, one snug fitting, and a larger pair over the top. They were expensive, and weren't available on the NHS at the time, but most mornings his bed was dry, and it saved on an awful lot of washing. They also had a waterproof duvet cover, so the duvet itself rarely needed washing, just a wipe over with a damp cloth. It wasn't one of the horrible noisy plastic ones, it felt really soft. You wouldn't know it was a waterproof one when the duvet cover was on.
I had to use the tumble drier for.the first time in ages yesterday. I hated it, partly.because of all the energy it uses, but also because I'm sure the clothes always shrink when they come out. I'm going to make an effort not to use it this winter, except for towels and bedding I read somewhere about freeze drying clothes on the line, which would be interesting to try. Our winters don't get that cold very often though. We do get a lot of wind, (oddly, since our garden is really.secluded) so hopefully that might be enough to get everything dry. My grandma, who grew up on a very remote hillside farm, always used to say that if the wind was stronger than the rain, the laundry would still dry . Which I'm sure is true, dry enough to iron anyway, but she was born in 1914! There was a lot less.pollution around then. Now if my laundry gets caught in anything more than a light shower, it really smells.

You are singing my tune. We have 2 dressers. 1 you can't get to because of clutter and 1 I can barely squeak open about 5 inches. My problem is I have a TON of unwearable clothes that does a fine job of protecting the carpet. Lol and my kids get undressed and redressed wherever they may be at the time. So it's a 15 minute hunt just to gather clothes. Tonight Tumble & Fold laundry on top of the dryer for 3 days Put it away Clothes safari Wash another load Dry it Fold it Put it away

I haven't popped in for a while. Noticed I was tagged, so back here I am. Today's first load is in, and next load is sorted. I'm QUITE behind on laundry and getting really tired of having it be a constant carpet in the hallway.

Is it such a bad thing that I am referring to the chair in my bedroom as an "open-concept dresser"? All clothes washed, lots need folding. At least the clothes are not in a dumped pile. They are laid flat over the chair. I find that laying them flat keeps them from getting wrinkled. That is "energy efficient ironing". I really need to just fold them and put them away.

This thread has helped me to get all my clothes clean and folded. Too bad that it will not stay that way. But just for right now, they are all put away.

How's the laundry going, 2bc4me? So far this week I've managed to get 4 loads washed & the shower curtains (load 5) are in the washer. I have at least 1, probably more loads sitting waiting to be folded. I'll get the kids to work on that in just a bit.

Ugh, yup, I have Mt. Washmore in my laundry room today. I need to do better in this area. With a family of five, I just cannot seem to get caught up and then not let it get out of control again. It is such an embarrassing room!! Mission for me is to get this better under control, I have no illusions that I will be caught up and permanently stay that way (not with two teenage daughters! HAHA!!) but better would be good!!

I had been caught up and had the best of intentions of staying on top. But we all know were that went. Oh well three loads to fold at least the clothes are all clean.

Cleaned bedding yesterday. Dried mine and son's. Daughter's was washed and just not put on bed. Did that today. Washed son's clothes, dried and hung and put away for once. Putting my laundry away. Putting bedding back on bed after battle royale with son having diarrhea. He leaked everywhere! Putting my other loads away when clothes are dried.
