August Laundry Successes5 6 7 8 9 11 Yesterday was an off day for me for laundry. Worked 8 hours and then just didn't want to do anything after getting home at 1 pm. Today I am back on track! Laundry Ta Da'sHang up coats washed Fold & put away clean load linens from dryer Wash, Dry, Fold/Hang & put away load of darks Wash & Dry colors Wash, Dry, Fold & put away load #1 towels Wash, Dry, Fold & put away load #2 towels Wash & Dry load of blankets (from hubby's garage cleaning and 1 grungy blanket nephew left here on Wednesday) Wash load jackets (from hubby's garage cleaning) In a perfect world, I will take care of the blankets that are in the dryer and the jackets tonight. If they sit until tomorrow, I am okay with that. I did more laundry than I planned today, plus handling tons of clothes that went into donation boxes.

I have been reading this thread since the beginning and have been impressed with everyone's progress and persistance...now it is time for me to jump in. My laundry overload is in four areas.
1. The clothes hamper in the bedroom is filled with non-clothes stuff from some past stash-and-dash traumas. I need to put that stuff away so the hamper can be used for dirty clothes/towels/etc.
2. The sofa is loaded with stuff that needs to be washed. This is stuff I carried out of the bedroom last spring because you could not walk through the bedroom and still have not washed. I've been chipping away at the mound a little at a time, but stack new stuff on top (since I can't use the laundry hamper in the bedroom) so I never get to the bottom. And, of course, other non-laundry stuff has been attracted to the mound and is now mixed in with the laundry. It would be nice to be able to sit on the sofa again...
3. In the basement, there is a sorting hamper with 4 bags that are partially full of stuff that needs to be laundered. That is mostly current dirty stuff that does get done when I get enough of one type for a full load. In addition, there are also 4 or 5 laundry baskets topped with a few boxes lined up on the basement floor, that have clothes, sheets, towels, and 'who knows what else (some non-clothes items)' in them. They have been lined up there since I moved, 2 years and 8 months ago. The basement is not large and having the laundry baskets in the middle of the floor, means there are only paths to the washer/dryer/freezers/shelves that line the room. I was making progress on this mound of stuff, but brought in some more from the garage...
4. Lastly, there is the garage where I think there are still some towels/sheets/blankets/comforters packed away in boxes. I would like to get the last of the 'fabric' stuff unpacked and washed so it could be either used or given away. I know some would say that if I hadn't used it in 2 2/3s years, I could just give it away, but I think it might be better than the stuff I am using.
So those are my 4 big areas. I have been doing a little extra laundry most weeks for the last month or so. My goal is a load a day, which would eventually get rid of the backlog. I would like to move that along a little faster, but if I only get one load a day, I will call it good. Additionally, I need to clean up the messes associated with the laundry problem.
This week's goal...7 loads of laundry AND the stash-and-dash stuff cleared out of the bedroom laundry hamper.

Goldfinch....good luck on several mount laundry piles. 7 loads this week is a good goal. Luckily you have a machine in the basement. Laundry is my favorite thing I would love to come over and help out... I am up to date almost. I have a queen bed sheet that is flannel and too hard to hand wash so it will have to sit in a hamper until I go to the machines again....could be 6 weeks as I keep everything pretty good everyday now. Anyway one pair of shorts from yesterday hanging on the line and everything else from yesterday is on the inside clothes horse.

Today's laundry accomplishments were hanging up clean load of coats I washed last night. And folding and putting away a load of clean blankets. Also started a load of #1 daughter's clothes, which reminds me I need to put in dryer. August Laundry Successes5 6 7 8 9 11 12

Today I would like to hang up my shirts that I didn't hang up yesterday. They are spread out on a bin, stacked on top of each other near my closet. I received a phone call and had to leave the house yesterday and am now getting back to it. I'm a bit exhausted so I don't think I'll do any other laundry today. I will come back and edit the check box to indicate if I got this done.

I totally understand nekomom. We've done quite a bit today. I do have load of #1 daughter's clothes in dryer now. So the plan is to get it all hung up and put away before bedtime. If I don't, it won't be the end of the world. I took care of those odd loads I washed last night from hubby's garage challenge. And I have handled soooooo much clothing today going through both girls' closets!

Congrats to everyone that won't let Mount Washmore take over the house. I'm still doing my two loads per day. I'll have to bump it up to three if I am to ever get to doing "small loads" again or half loads.( Which is Lovely!)

I just gathered some colors to wash for my third load and I'm also going to start a donate bag because there are just too many items.

Yesterday was a bust for laundry ... or anything in the house! Lucky hubby did our dishes. Tonight I was so tired from work, shopping and kids. But I did finally just go and put away the basket of clothes for my oldest daughter that's been sitting in a basket in my room for 2 days? or 3? hummm??? not sure. Got a load of darks washed and in dryer and a load of towels started. I wouldn't have so much but I had a huge swamp mess to clean up earlier from 2 yo in bath.
Tomorrow's task will be to get those 2 loads completed and put away.
