Book review. [ disclaimer: I have not read this book myself. Just relaying a recommendation from another member] "Clutter Busting: Letting Go of What's Holding You Back" by Brooks Palmer. The same author, Brooks Palmer, also has another book (similar title, but different focus): "Clutter Busting Your Life: Clearing Physical and Emotional Clutter to Reconnect with Yourself and Others" His website is here: brooks-palmer.blogspot.com/ Here follows a three-part review of the first book by our member creativechaos: i'm reading Brooks Palmer's book entitled Clutter Busting; Letting Go of What's Holding You Back. it's one of the most helpful and moving books i have read on the whole clutter/hoarding situation. the Brooks Palmer book is so helpful. i think his arguments about what clutter does to a person are mostly spot-on, and he has great compassion for the situation, reminding the reader of the truly important things - such as, NOW is the most important and only stable time we have in life. he so wisely says that clutter and stuff is not what we really are after - it's either the feelings we think we will get from "having" the stuff, or an attempt to hide deeper feelings we don't want to face. that rings very true for me. he asks a lot of really good, pointed questions, and says that WE are the most important things in our lives - and the experiences we have in being alive - not our stuff, which is only an insulator from life. Clutter Busting; Letting Go of What's Holding You Back - by Brooks Palmer. It's one of the best I've read and is compassionate, kind, and ruthless (in a good way) all at once. it doesn't talk about hoarding per se; it talks about reclaiming your life and it gives a lot of good examples. everyone needs a Brooks Palmer in their life! it's a great book for couples who both want to work on the problem.

I read his first book a couple years ago. IMHO only I liked many of his ideas but the author seemed a bit taken with himself.
