@louie, e-mail seems like paper clutter to me also. I think it generates the same anxiety for me, as well as causing the similar problems if neglected. Great to see you are chipping away at the "paper" monster. Good job on breaking the string of procrastination days! I am breaking a string today. Sorry CPS is giving you a hard time, lostchild. Good idea to keep a paper trail. You are so good at being consistent, papermoon! I'm trying to be more like you! Continued sorting the work paper today. Making progress! I've also continued chipping away at my work e-mail. It will def be easier for me to access the information I need when I need it, which really decreases my anxiety.

Several hours on the same backlog of work papers. Huge progress! I still have more to do and I will have to use my brain. I have to fine tune the organizational system and there are some things I need to study.

Emergency clean up of papers in progress...rainy season is coming and my roof is leaking just next to my computer so I am going to have to move my computer desk.
It is covered in papers of mine and the children's and I can't find my timecard. I don't remember mailing it out so either its here or I already mailed it.
I will have a new card sent asap and I will keep searching for my card. I did an hour and a half of shredding old papers, tossing stuff and looking for records for the cats. I have to get shots for them.
Goal is to do homework and finish cleaning my desk and to possibly go thru my entertainment center to make sure it doesn't pile up with stuff.

good luck with your emergency paper clean up lostchild [/img] [/img] good work grasshopper! I'm glad someone else understands the email issue- I've been working at getting to 'inbox zero' both at home and at work and it has really helped, but it did take a fair bit of time to get to that point. keep plodding along! how time flies! I have been away twice since I last posted - helping DS declutter and travel for work. The good news is that the big paperwork job I needed to do by the end October got completed and I also got more paperwork decluttered and bills paid up to date. This week I'm just focusing on keeping current with the daily mail and I'll do more on the weekend.

That is beautiful, Louie. I want to get to that point. I'm working on it. For November, I have increased my paperwork time by double... to 36 minutes daily instead of every other day. So far I've made it through the first 3 days without flinching. I've shuffled some of these papers so many times that they've lost their toxicity and scariness. Can't hurt me, nyah-nyah. So if anybody else is feeling bad about not being able to "handle it only once"... take heart! A few rounds of paper shuffling could be just the detox cleanse you need.

I'm also working on the magazine piles for 24 minutes every day. I finished one today and donated it to the Free Box. But here's the beauty part... After I finished it (Good Housekeeping), I went online and CANCELLED my subscription! I won't get any refund and I DON'T CARE!! Then I flexed my muscles and cancelled Town & Country!! HAH!!! Again, no refund and again I DON'T CARE!! I'm still keeping my Vogue subscription for now, but they'd better watch it.

I processed todays mail and did 10 minutes sorting and filing. I also got a phone call today from an old client that needs their file for a court case. I am happy to say that because of all my paper de-cluttering I was able to find it straight away! woohoo! that is progress

I took amnesty from all my daily tasks yesterday, including paperwork. But I dove back in today and did my full 36 minutes of sorting and shredding. I'm nearly done with #2 (of 4) of those bankers boxes in the basement, full of jumbled papers. Only a 4-inch stack to be sorted from box #2.
But I also peeked into the next box... it's full of old Christmas cards and letters from my dear ones who are dead now, mostly within the past decade. What a bleak task to face. Has anyone done this? How, without suffering from it? Or perhaps the suffering is a necessary part of it? Should I postpone it until after the holidays?

congrats on being almost half way through those 4 boxes papermoon I think if the box of Christmas cards feels too difficult just postpone if for the time being. I call these boxes my 'emotional timebombs' and I put them aside for later. I've been able to work through most of them over time - but just trust yourself to know what you are able to do right now. I have an extra day off work so I plan on working on my paperwork list as much as possible. I really want to get my paper clutter done and dusted by the end of 2014 - then it's just maintenance. I have just paid some bills and filed them. Tossed out some magazines and catalogues and now I'm going to spend some time filing.

Spent 40 minutes going thru papers in my entertainment center that are my son's.
Found three of my papers and some really important information.
I even dusted it.
I am continuing to have a headache even as I sit here so depending if it levels out I will do my desk next or lay down.
Made curry seasoned chicken as my reward for paper sorting and my daughter has eaten three pieces...I guess she deserves it...she did all of her homework.

Taking a break from paperwork for lunch. I have shredded six small trash bags of paper and one large garbage bag. I have also got a fair bit of filing done in between when the shredder needs a rest. I have also been able to get rid of enough papers that I will be able to get rid of one two drawer filing cabinet soon-
