I really wish I had a shredder - it actually sounds kind of fun! I'm sure it would get old after a bag or two, but it must be kind of satisfying sending it all down the chute papermoon? I got split wise done and paid all the bills. I found my invoices to take in this week. The only thing I didn't get to was the childcare stuff. But I can tackle that tomorrow. I really need need to get a handle on my papers. I need a system for receipts and a system for tax stuff. And I need a file box.... It all gives me anxiety just thinking about setting something up. But then piles of papers everywhere gives me anxiety too.

I entered the TRAUMA CORNER and bagged 2 bags of rubbish paper and bagged the rest up to go through as I get time. I sorted a little and was so happy. My desk had scattered piles of unstable papers everywhere and falling off the edge. It is now totally clear. Not sorted as I said, BUT a great start

Woo hoo! Look at all the work getting done!
I don't have a shredder but can do a burn pile. I've got bags and bags and boxes of paper getting assembled for the big burn, coming soon.
Didn't do my paper hour with Andy (Griffith that is) last night as I was in town till late but did do an hour the night before.
Opened mail, filed some things, paid the mortgage, did some more research into social services. Did some banking sorts of things.
I could really do with a few full days at the desk. It would really get me caught up to do so.

Arranging to get desk. It is large office desk not computer desk. It is L shaped and has five drawers. It is coming along with a filing cabinet soon. Next I have to transfer all of my papers into desk and filing cabinet. I am also moving office supplies to desk. Next pen purge. I don't need anymore pens...ever. I have a basket full plus a ziploc bag full of pens, pencils, and highlighters. How do you purge pens? !

this is not paper clutter at home but at work what often happens is I get so busy with seeing clients that I don't get their notes written up straight away and then they just keep getting backlogged, I have a "to write up file" in my filing cabinet that I work on when I have a spare minute, then at the end of the year I have to get them all done which is stressful. So, this year I made my usual promise to do the paperwork each day and a colleague told me she has the same problem, so we now email each other at the end of each day when we've finished the days papers to keep accountable, even if we have to stay a bit late- it has made a real difference! sort of like this accountability thread and so far we have not missed a day this year so we are pretty pleased with ourselves as this week has been incredibly busy - its nice to be getting control of the paper at work as well and to have a buddy to check in with and it's great walking in each morning knowing there it no paperwork left from the day day before

Didn't get to post on Friday, Jan. 23rd. But, I took bills to pay while I was at the Dr.'s office. It ended up I was seen so quickly that I didn't have time to do them there. I did do them after the appointment over breakfast at a restaurant. Mailed them, too. CD

We must have a psychic connection, cando. Friday and Saturday I did like you... took my papers elsewhere to work on them. I was afraid I'd never get two big tasks done at home, so I decided to go find a Distraction-Free Zone. Friday I went to a posh hotel lobby and curled up on a cushy loveseat in the corner. It took me an hour of concentrated work, but I transferred all my blood-test records from my journal to special forms required by Medicare. Then Saturday I took my weekly To-Do Book to the farthest quiet corner on the 5th floor of the library. It took an hour to write up my weekly list of to-do's... but that's way better than the 2-3 hours it usually takes at home, where I'm distracted by my computer and my cat and the contents of my refrigerator.

Oh, papermoon ! You are soo right! I'm glad you got a lot done, too. That was one thing that I got from Flylady. Having an "Office in a Bag." -- Although, on Friday, I didn't take the big bag... I just grabbed the bills, stamps & return address labels & stuck them in my purse. I'm also glad that you shared about the computer, cat & refrigerator being a distraction... Me, too! I was starting to feel silly about doing the paperwork outside of the home, but you are so right! These things are a distraction for me... also the telephone and my DH when he is home. (Instead of a kitty, though, it is 2 dogs...). I actually felt guilty about not returning home to do these things but then told myself that I needed to just get it done without distractions. When my kids were young, I used to take Office in a Bag to places like Chuck E Cheese and the library, and got my paperwork done. Thank you so much for reinforcing that it is okay to leave the house even though often no one else is at home to get my paperwork done. I really, really needed to know that someone else "gets that" and even nicer to know someone else does the same thing. Have a great day! CD

cando and papermoon I'm glad to read that you're getting things done by changing location. I have an office-in-a-bag somewhere in the doom room, wouldn't be hard to set it back up. I'm trying to at least stay current by entering receipts into Quicken and by opening mail and acting upon the contents if I can. Haven't made any progress on the backlog of financial squalor, nor on estate dealings. Maybe next month.
