Yesterday I did another hour of misc paper sorting and shredding. It is still my intention to shift my paper focus to the piles of old magazines, as I work my way through the SHED book. I'm struggling with establishing a daily hour working on some kind of papers, so I hope the old magazines will get me there.

I managed to tackle my paper pile (not really a mountain anymore). As usual I threw most of it away and have a very small pile to file permanently. Also as usual I had a few bits and pieces that I didn't want to throw away but don't warrant their own files. I have a box file labelled 'Stuff' for these which is full. I went through it recently and didn't want to throw anything away. So the latest little collection is in my 'current/pending/to do/ box file.
What do other people do with these bits?

Recently I began calling mine "deferred decisions." That is a phrase I picked up somewhere on this site. But I kind of smile a bit when I walk past that accumulating box--it makes it seem like that "stuff" is indeed part of my master plan to clean up my life messes.

Had a request for paperwork for a loan I am refinancing. Birth certificates were misplaced but found in to be filed pile. Refinance is so I can sell other extra car so its not blocking driveway especially since it doesn't run. Needs battery and brakes. Don't need it. Surprised I got approved. Will buy trampoline for kids with extra money so daughter can exercise. Also buying cover for spa. Getting yard together. March is a fence around spa.

Hello everyone! I've been away for a long time and happy to reconnect with you all.
More than 20 years ago my (then) partner said, "You have a paper problem." A simple, yet profound statement. And quite an understatement.
I wish I could say I'm SO much better now, but I would never lie to you. I'm probably way worse, or maybe just somewhat worse. The problem is that there is just so much more paper now than when I was in grad school (and, being in grad school, there was quite a lot of paper back then). Decades of accumulation. A massive increase of mail delivered to home and office mailbox.
So I turn to you, my accountabili-buddies to help me with this huge task.
I'll write more in a while.

I have too many things. And every time I want to get rid of something, I can always find a reason to keep it, at least for a little while longer. Just to be sure. No matter what it is. Or that's how it seems. I completely understand. It is the uncertainty, the "just to be sure" element that nearly always trips me up and keeps me from releasing things.
