I did a round of dishes yesterday. There were more, so those are cluttering up the sink now.

I washed dishes 4 times yesterday. What helped was to run hot dishwater before I started cooking and as things were used, washed them. I didn't do well this morning, but after lunch, I have everything cleaned up again.

From last years daily dish washing thread Just to close out 2013 "properly:" I *DID* it! I washed dishes *EVERY SINGLE DAY* from when I started back in April through the end of 2013!! My "streak" stands at 253 days!! (Well, 254, now, actually. !) If someone had told me a year ago that this would be the case, I *NEVER* would have believed that person!! Onward . . . Arid Welcome to Janie. Ty and Imamess for sharing what works for you. WTG puppyGreat start. Our winners on the old doing the dishes daily thread didn't hafta catch up on it all at once to begin. They just begin. Then continue regularly. Just quietly I remember how long it was before Arid had caught up, and then only had each days dishes to contend with.

wow arid you rule!
I did the dishes today. I still have more.
I'm not really catching up on too many, I'm just a round behind for doing 1 round a day, I guess. plus I keep using new juicer so that adds more. I onlt have so much room to put wet dishes, and drying dishes is hard for some reason. so forget it. its pretty dry in here so they do dry fairly fast.

puppy - I have that with my new blender and chopper thingo. I do rinse as I go so that makes life easier later on, but it fills the dishdrainer up when I wash them. I am trying to empty the dishdrainer as the things get dry instead of using it as an open storage point - just like the dish washer users need to do with their dw at finish of cycle. I did create a way to put it (blender / chopper stuff) all away though so am pleased with that. I need to go eat. I'll do it simple without adding too much washing up. One bowl and spoon will not be worth running a sink full of hot sudsy water. No apology to the purists who do it all as they go. slightly crazy over that.

So far today: put away yesterday's dry dishes Arid, That's awesome! Jannie, That's how we were taught to wash the dishes: by categories. Obviously, that fell by the wayside a long time ago. Working on catching up, and staying caught up. (edit to add) washed one sink load of dishes, including 2 pans, set aside to dry

Got dishes done a little bit ago .... dishwasher unloaded, all dirties in kitchen loaded up and run. Found a coffee cup and kid cup at our desks and put in. And 15 minutes later I found 3 kid plates, 3 kid bowls, 3 kid cups and my water cup in the living room all scattered about in random places. So there starts the new bit in the sink waiting for the next load. Dishwasher unloaded, loaded and ran a 2nd time before bedtime. Dinner dishes ... amazing how quickly they multiply!

Oh, I am in on this one. Dishes are my biggest problem. Once I get in maintenance mode, I'm like Red! It's after 1 am here, so I will begin tomorrow. I have plenty of dishes to work on!

As I only have one sink, meaning only one bowl in the sink, everyone in my house (mostly) remembers to stack dirty dishes on the sink, not in it. There's nothing worse than having to take dishes out of the sink to use the sink. The dishwasher is emptied first thing in the morning before breaky usually by myself or DH, but the kids will also do it, more so on weekends. Interestingly enough, if someone is up very early before the others and they've had breakfast, they tend to wash up their own dishes and put them away. The rule in our house is run the dishwasher only when it's full. As we used to be on permanent water restrictions this worked well. Leaving the dishes in the drainer to air dry doesn't work for me they then tend to accumulate and I don't want the drainer to become a storage point as Wynken mentioned.
