The more you shed, the easier it gets powerpuff! Two things out is a success at getting something out that you might not have done before, so even if you just cruise along at two things a day that's still HUNDREDS of things out of your house. Its all success.

I will join this year. I stopped tracking last year but I know I got rid of over 2013 things. So I know this year is doable as well! I think my counting method will be random .... try to be consistent. I don't think I'll count every single piece of paper, or every little bit of whatever that should be trash anyway. If it's stuff we don't need and I'm purging, it counts .... old clothes, old toys, electronics, furniture, craft items, etc. I have in my tag line 40, but I need to update that. That was from the first day or two in January. We did more purging as we were cleaning 8 yo's room before her Grandmother came from Denmark last week. I had dh drop off 3 boxes at Good Will and I am going to be conservative and say 20 items in each box. I know one box had tons of little toys, but seems like a good number. So I will add those in now and bring my total to 100.
Good luck everyone!!!

Packing up the Christmas tree today, I went through a box of ornaments that MIL had been holding on to since my Husband moved out, they were almost all in rough shape. There were also so many bits of JUNK in the box. We needn't save every bow that ever adorned a holiday centerpiece. Ugh. 20 Childhood memories in ornament form, badly gnawed and or crushed. 1 Terrifying Hobo Clown 6 bows/geegaws on florist sticks from holiday centerpieces 1 light up musical mini tree base A bunch more items went from that box into the donate box, but I'm maintaining my policy of not counting them until they're OUT. 28 more things out leaves one thousand, six hundred, seventy seven left to purge. Today's purge was spurred on by angela for her bravery in releasing so many books/media!

I packed, filled out online forms, applied postage and mailed out two boxes of Christmas Gift returns that had been sitting under my desk since before the holidays. As a result, I'll get a couple hundred dollars back, and more space for my feet. 2003 to go!

Its all success. Thank you papergrace and saffron for the encouragement. saffron, hey nice job! Am still going over the threads and figuring out how to post here. I got rid of some items, placed them in a small plastic bag to be thrown in the trash. Will count that as one. I have 2009 more. Funny but I wonder how I have come to have these stuff through the years. They are not really valuable but I seem to hang on to them as ifthey are part of me. Now iI'm glad I'm learning to let go. :-)

I tossed a hair tie, a potted plant + plastic pot, a vaseful plant cuttings and used up several bottles from cleanign supply closet. (I list things that I use up too, as I tend to leave a little at the bottom of bottles.) I think there was something else too, but I can't remember right now.
