For more information click herebtw, I love the word decrapify! Anyone want to try this? You can use any size bags you want, and she has a printable chart to help you plan your stategy for the month. You don't have to be an observer of lent to participate, and you can take a day off besides Sundays if you want. Do what works for you. Let me know what you think. I want to do this, although the days I work 12 hour shifts, my task might be as simple as making sure that the junk mail is dealt with instead of added to a pile somewhere. I want to make my daily goal small enough that is doesn't seem overwheming to me. I have a couple of days to think about this. Edited to add: You can count the elimination of financial and electronic/digital baggage too. I should delete at least 1000 email messages and unsubscribe to many of them. I know of someone who downgraded their cable and phone packages, and eliminated Netflix and a gym membership that they wern't using and saved $250-300 per month.

Sounds interesting. I might join in, probably with something like paper grocery bag size - not too big, not too small.

Decrapify, hmmm. I like that word. I'm already on the 2014 things out this year thread, so I won't be posting here, but will drop by to see your progress. Good luck!

I decided to get started at this early, since I have a lot going on this month, and know that I might not be able to participate every day.
Monday, March 3, I filled a grocery bag full of stuff from the car and brought it in and then sorted it between the recycling bin and the trash. I'm counting that as 1 bag.

I really like the ticker you have chosen, Ally. I'm going to count anything that goes out of the house forever, even ordinary house trash. I'm going to call them 'Goldilocks' bags, L0L. Not too big, not too small, ...just right. I found it interesting when looking at the photos of the woman's house that it was what I would consider quite 'minimal' already. Not sure how she would even be able to find 40 bags without cutting into 'essentials'. But then I have the hoarder mind-set.

I was getting panicky thinking of a big trash can sized bag. But somewhere on the website the woman also writes about focusing on one area a day. This feels more suitable for me, because I get to define what an area is. For example, my desk, the area where things stack up next to the door to the garage, the floor of the pantry. Puppybox, I am enamored of those stickers too

All I Am In Ally thanks for getting a thread started. I was going to start one but thought I should search first to see if one had already been started and it was. WOOT WOOT. I plan on using Plastic Food Lion bags -- one a day Monday through Friday and then 1 black trash bag on Saturday. I think that will be doable and not be so stressful. My area of focus will be my garage. I was not planning on working in my garage until after I got taxes done, but truly it will be a good 3 weeks before I would have to start making tough decisions on garage stuff, I have enough trash and donate stuff to go through before I hit the hard stuff. I think I can handle it. Good Luck To Us All

Since I am on time and I like that, will start tomorrow with the large bag of trash in the kitchen that has become part of the landscape! I also like the area idea and it will be fun to identify those areas. I wonder if I have thirty nine. These could include my many baskets, drawers ,shelves, closets. And boxes inside my big closet and kitchen cupboards

And it begins 1 bag of trash from garage, plus I started a pile for larger items to throw away on my Saturday Big Bag Day. Bonus bag of junk mail from paper clutter pile.
Update 12:55 decrapified one area of classroom 2 foot X 4 foot.

Great start Roadrunner! I just went through a large bag full of DH's papers (that had random odd junk mixed in) and a pile of papers in my area. 80% went into a box for recycling, 10% was shredded, 5% was saved, 5% was trash. I'm counting that as one bag of papers to be reccyled out! (Shredded papers get put in the chicken coop.)
I may do another bag/box later today, since I work a long day tomorrow.
