good job everyone!!!!! Yay, Roadrunner for finishing in your classroom, and Ally for having things tidy for BoB (boss of boss). And Rob for getting 45 bags done! oh blondie, you really DID bust your B u t t . Joy, kudos to you and everyone who kep up the challenge while spending a lot of hours out of the house. I fell off the wagon, but decided to get back on today and not think about the days i missed. Mr C and I cleaned out our large bin of bags and found a sundry bunch of old cleaning supplies and a wizened head of garlic lurking at the bottom

I just posted this on the 40 in 40 Facebook Group page, it outlines my intentions going forward:
So, here's my plan, and anyone and everyone is welcome to follow along and/or participate, if they like:
Tomorrow is Easter. I'm (probably) taking tomorrow off.* After that, it is, if I'm counting correctly, 35 days until Memorial Day. That'd be 30, if one opts to take Sundays off. I'm doing 35 Days to Memorial Day. Then I think I (probably) take Memorial Day off.* After that, I think it's 45 or 46 days until Independence Day. Or another 40 if you take Sundays off. (See the pattern?) After that, I don't know yet. I'll worry about it then.
I'm, personally, working my way out of some pretty serious squalor. I have a long way to go. That is not everyone's situation, and certainly not a requirement to watch, follow or join in on any of this. My personal intention, for myself, is for this daily habit of clearing out a bit of my squalor to evolve into a daily maintenance of my habitat. Once I feel that is ingrained, I *may* no longer find it necessary to post daily on a Facebook page. I don't know; that reality doesn't exist yet. But that's what I'm working towards. I'm not sure when that will be. I'm not worried about setting a date. That is not my business.
But that's the plan.
And Oh, by THE WAY.... FORTY SIX (46) BAGS --IN-- FORTY SIX (46) MOTHER LOVIN' DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!
*My thought for tomorrow, Easter, is while I may not do "a bag," I think I will sit, at one point, during the day, and thoroughly enjoy a piece of chocolate, and pointedly acknowledge that this is in honor and in place of the day's bag. I'm a "Daily Reprieve" kind of guy, hence my not taking Sundays off, so I think this will satisfy the part of my brain that wants to fulfill my daily task, while celebrating and acknowledging my accomplishment. And it's infrequent enough to really make it something rare and precious. I will likely do something similar on Memorial Day, replacing the chocolate with some once-living creature grilled over an open flame. Hell, I may do that tomorrow, too!
Whew! Long post! Thank you everyone who watched and encouraged and took a second to hit "like" or comment on any of my posts! It means more to me than you may ever know!
Thank you all, Rob

we come out from hiding and faced the fear and discovered that to all for every accomplishment during the 40 Day 40 Bag Challenge. Yesterday I did my final 40 items. I cheated a bit. I sorted and organized 178 Easter Eggs for DS and DSs Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny puts all their candy and Easter Booty in plastic eggs and hides them in the yard for them to find. Because of my purging sorting efforts the past 39 days I was able to go out to the garage and find the Easter Eggs without having to search through tons of stuff. robnoxious007 I am in for a 30 By 30 Memorial Day Challenge. At one time Memorial was known as Decoration Day, where family members would decorate the graves of their family members who had last their lives while serving in the military. In the home -- I will sort and purge 30 items a day from the following areas, dressers, closets and other concealed areas. Now that inside home squalor is almost under control I am ready to start decorating. In my classroom -- I will work 5 days a week purging/filing 2 inches a day for a total of 3 cube foot. Then my last days of school I can focus on Decorating my classroom. In the garage -- I will purge/sort 30 items a day unearthing the stock piles of items collected through the years that I have intended to decorate my home with. In the yard -- I will prepare a 30 square foot area for summer planting and beautification. I think it would be helpful to create a new thread for the 30 day challenge. Out with the old challenge in with the new challenge. A fresh start. A mental rest. We have finished one chapter of the book of conquering squalor Chapter 1 40 Day 40 Bags and now it is time to write Chapter 2 What are your thoughts?

robnoxious007 and RoadRunner, I think that a 30, 35, or 40 bag challenge would be excellent. We could use Memorial Day as the end point, or May 31. FYI: SOoS runs a HUGE Purge-A-Thon each year during the whole month of June, so that's why I think May 31 might be a good ending date, unless you'd want the days between Memorial Day and May 31 off. I agree that we should start a new thread and I can work on starting that if you would like. I will add a link here after I start it.

It is Easter. I have enjoyed some chocolate. (In ice cream form, actually.) I wanna show you guys something. My neighbor and close friend Kevin, has been very supportive through this whole thing, even though it really isn't something he gets, or has any kind of problem with. Anyway, on day 39 of this, he gave my this coin he made out of clay. The pic is kinda lousy from my phone and really doesn't do it justice. He and his Wife and daughter are some of my closest friends, family actually. (I officiated their wedding) Their support is a huge part of why I've been able to do this. Happy Easter.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread. What a great idea, Ally. I think I got in 40 bags, or very close to it. Unfortunately I stopped counting somewhere along the way. Except for the very end, I did it everyday, including Sundays. I could go back and count, but think my time would be better used going through real-life boxes and not going through 26 pages of posts to see if I 'only' got to 37, or actually hit forty or more. I declare this thread to have been a great success!

Going to count this as 1 bag for today. I cleaned out a good size wicker basket that was housing a bit of everything and a lot of junk/trash that was on top of my fridge. All useless items trashed and others taken to their homes. Then also cleaned out a smaller basket that is just supposed to hold keys, hubby's wallet and maybe sun glasses. It was filled with tons of loose coins (went in kids' piggy banks) and tons of trashy junk.
4 out of 40

I wonder how many bags I can count our u-haul for? Hubby is almost done loading up all the wood from the old swing set (been in the back yard for over a year.) We pulled a ton of stuff out of garage to trash also. He did most of the heavy work, I just had to do some sorting and purging today. But that should count for at least 3 bags I would say.
7 out of 40
