I went to "the big city" yesterday, and other than meals, did not buy a single thing.

Got some free books at a library, took them home and then kept just one and took the rest back. I should stop taking things for a walk.

Good job lucie! I went back to Target yesterday and hooray, the customer service person gave me the $25 as a refund, so no having to return the items and re-buy them on line. I didn't know it, but the discount was also featured as a coupon in the print ad. I did return the smaller quilt that I had bought as a potential new cover for the sitting room futon as there is a queen size available online for the same price and the queen size is really what I need. So that and the heated throw will get purchased online and I'll get the $10 off discount. The lamp I bought to match it all feels like an extravagance, however, the lamp I have now has a broken socket so the bulb and shade are kind of leaning to one side. The switch doesn't work so I have to screw in and unscrew the light bulb...I think it has done its service. jendela I love to read that your new purchases are giving you such enjoyment. I think it's great when the things we buy are needed, used, and enjoyed right away. It's a whole different feeling than the unconsidered acquisition of things for some potential future use.

angela, that's great about the refund and the queen size quilt being available for the same price! Throw that old broken lamp in the trash, and sing something appropriate while you do it! lucie good for you for taking the unloved books back to the library. I love what you said about "taking things for a walk." I've certainly taken my share of things for a drive!

angela. Re: the refund. I like when things work out that way. Today i I got a haircut, then since I was In the "big city" I hit Marshall's for some Pyrex measuring cups, a small ceramic nonstick skillet, and a cozy robe. I've needed all for a while. Then I hit pier 1 and got some curtain panels I have been looking at for a while were finally on sale for 9.99, down from 29.99 ea.

cleanbee that is a great deal on curtain panels! I am looking for some now too, for my bedroom and upstairs sitting room. I brought home more things yesterday for myself from my friend's house. A new roll of green plastic landscape fencing material. It matches what I already have and will be very useful for the fence line along the front of the property. A hose valve that you put on the end of the hose to turn it on and off. I've needed one for about a year. A package of small seed starter type peat pots that you put right in the ground. A box of seeds. A timer control for outdoor use, will be perfect for heat lamps in the barn. A brooder light fixture (heat lamp/shop lamp). A heat lamp bulb. My box came from Target yesterday with the heated throw for the upstairs sitting area, a queen size yellow quilt to replace the fabric on the upstairs futon, a smaller teal microfiber throw also for the upstairs. I think I have enough microfiber throws finally! One for each room upstairs. The one I have on my bed has been so comforting this winter, I pull it up over my head and bundle myself up. It isn't too hot and keeps the drafts from my neck and ears. I have more stuff I brought home but won't keep. Oh my gosh, so much stuff in my house.

Oh I forgot to say I wore the lilac cowl neck sweater from VV to work on Monday and got a compliment on it. It is a very good color for me and I love the neckline. Win.

More I forgot I brought home: A small kitchen scale, I need it for fiber. I'll take back the one I got at Walmart. 2 more tarps, one new.
Bought high heat rubber gloves, for wool washing.

Father forgive me, for I have done bad.
I bought clothes. Lots of clothes. The sales lady and her daughter matched stuff up for me, and I liked it, and I bought it. Fortunately, I was at a discount clothes chain, where the stuff is not expensive, and they were having a clearance sale, and I got some cute, trendy stuff for a very good price. I even bought a couple of pieces of jewelry to go with it. Some of the things were basics, too, like light weight dressy jacket and cardigan type garments in black, navy, grey and off-white. They will go over T's and such and make them look appropriate for work.
I threw some of my old clothes in the trash. I deemed them too worn out to pass on to someone else. I am sure I will be culling some more.

Daye.... don't feel bad. I did a splurge on clothes last year. I shopped the sales and did the mix and match things. I have done little to no shopping this year. Just a few accessories and basic things like sleeveless turtleneck shirts for layering. It feels good when you look good. That is important. ...

Thank you, ohblondie. It does make me feel better to know I have some things that will fit me properly. I've gained about 15 lbs. since I last bought job-type clothes, and while I can still wear them, they look gorged. Not attractive. And makes me feel ugly, squeezing into stuff like that. I bought some t-shirts and jeans a few months back. Casual, work at home kind of things. Other than that, I have not bought any serious clothes to speak of in 10 years. Unless I'm forgetting something, I think all I've bought over the past few years is just sweats, t shirts, that sort of thing.

I browsed in a clothing store last night. very rare behavior for me. they had sales racks -- silver lame type dresses that would fit me. I wouldn't wear them without a shirt under or sweater over -- but I'd like to have something like that. my size is different than once it was, so much so that new clothing is really necessary. and not having pretty, good things piles on depression. (I have a credit for that store.) I noticed the bag of red material remnants in my main room -- I could let go of that material, I think.

I was given a knife set by my BFF. It has a small paring knife, a vegetable peeler (I don't have one) and a larger wavy blade knife that she said was wonderful for slicing tomatoes and other hard to slice things. I haven't tried any of them out yet. The bad thing was a box of fabric that arrived in the mail this week. I ordered this three weeks ago and was beginning to wonder if my order had been lost. This fabric is for the quilt that I am currently working on. I spent too much money on it but I have been rewarding myself with sewing on the quilt top in between jobs that I really don't want to do.
