I decided that since the lunch bag that I have been using on a daily basis for the past maybe 5 years is falling apart (it did make it into the trash) and since I am giving one away that is too small, and I don't really have time to devote to making one at the moment, (although I'd love to) I will order a new one. I have looked at a few on Etsy that look to be about the size I am looking for. I haven't decided on one yet, but this may be one of my to-do's today.

papermoon i don't think it violates any rules about posting prices. If it helps you - then do it. Actually - putting a price on things would probably help me. Especially since I use the debit card for purchases. Money is almost "invisible" so I don;t "see" the amount I am spending so I am never sure how much is left. I have only been buying food - though I did throw a few dollars down on a superbowl square. I bought one for each of my kids and one daughter won the first quarter score......

I stopped at the $ store this afternoon and bought some honey buns and a pack of envelopes which will be addressed and out of my house in two days (I hope).
Ohblondie, I hate to use my debit card, but when I do, I try to sit down that night and enter my receipts on my checkbook register. I'm almost OCD about my checkbook, wanting to know to the penny how much I have in the bank. My accountant told me to use my debit card for my gas purchases and I have always used cash for that (a set monthly amount in an envelope). It is very hard to get used to this.

Thanks Papermoon. I'm getting to the place that I trust computers, banks and electronic cards less and less. My taxes were filed a week ago. I've had lots of problems with the internet, with neighbors trying to steal my wi-fi signal, etc., etc. I realized that I'm addicted to the computer and really need to lay it down except for specified times each day, but that is harder than I realized.

Yesterday... Bought some groceries and filled up my tank with fuel. I just ordered a lunch bag from Etsy. It wasn't cheap, but it appears to be well made and a good size for my lunch, and I think it's attractive!

Glad you're getting a new lunch bag Ally. Hope it's as nice to use as the one you released. ohblondie, thanks for liking my clothing acquisition posts. I do enjoy making up outfits, even though I have few places to wear them these days. It's another activity from long ago that makes me feel good. I spent much time with Glamour and Seventeen magazines back in junior high and high school and at the time, there were always features on assembling outfits from a handful of separates. 10 outfits from 5 pieces, that sort of thing. I really bonded with that whole idea and kept it up for many years. The clothing acquisition really geared up when I had a real estate job and we really had to dress up, and don't wear the same outfit too often! I swear I was getting new clothes every week! Then the most recent clothing store job, again, expected to dress creatively and differently with clothing from the store. Most of those clothes are gone now, as are the clothes from the last job (the clothing store, never liked that look much anyhow). So I can return to my roots of a small capsule wardrobe with a handful of accessories. Strictly speaking, I am not always replacing things that have worn all the way out, but I am replacing things that are shabby or that I'm just bored with. I don't know if that's good or not. I think I would really feel deprived if I forced myself to pass up good bargain clothes that I like and would wear.

angela...I must have read the same articles as you! Nothing makes me happier than to see that everything "mixes and matches". my goal was to have the basics (grey pants/skirt; black pants/skirt; navy pants/skirt; khaki pants/skirt)then everything else to coordinate around them. Sometimes, when my clothes are in a jumble on the floor - I "accidently" create new combinations! the colors you describe as being in your capsule sound so pretty..... Hubby grouses that I dress too nice for work. that there is no reason for me to do so. THat I could wear jeans every day. Well, I meet with many people during the day, and I always like to look professional. When I retire I will take it down a notch or three.....

I am appalled at the way people generally dress today. Even at church, I'm one of very few that try to look their best. And I've noticed that those who do are usually more mature people like myself. Younger folks, not.
I wore professional-looking clothes during all my working years and have gotten rid of most of that wardrobe now, (thank you, KonMari!) but still dress nice for my part-time job. At home I mostly wear jeans & casual, but still like to look "put together."
Somewhere over the years I learned the joys of treasure hunting at thrift stores too.
Interesting conversation!

Hmm, time to list this week's acquisitions: 7 books. Yes. Seven. Angels Fall by Nora roberts (bought to replace my worn out copy) The Labours of Hercules by Agatha Christie (bought) The Plains of Passage by Jean M. Auel (free, to replace my old copy) Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts (free) Black Hills by Nora Roberts (free, used, will see if I keep it) a book on wishes by Pierre Franckh (free) a book by a local author (free) I also got a new mug our library made for this year's 125th anniversary of our library. It has a picture of Superlibrarians (free) I really should limit acquiring those free books. It is 18 so far this year and it is just February!

This afternoon I bought myself a little red tin box full of chocolates. The chocolates are already gone Instead of flowers I bought a seed starter tray and some potting soil. I have all kinds of seeds in the freezer. I also bought an oven mitt for the Egg Lady. I called dd a little while ago and she and dgd were playing oven mitt monsters. Sounded like a good game and I could hear dgd growling in the background.
