What is 35 Bags in 35 Days?
A period of time, in which you focus on cleaning one area per day. In this one area you challenge yourself to declutter, simplify, decrapify, and get rid of things you don’t need. The goal is one bag a day but you can have more or less.
The challenge In this thread will go until May 26, which is Memorial Day in the USA, or You may opt to go until May 31 (SOoS hosts a Purge-A-Thon which starts June 1st.)
April 21-May 25= about 36 days, 31 days if you take off 1 day per week.
April 21-May 31= about 41 days, 35 days if you take 1 day off per week.
You may use any size bag you want. You may eliminate only one or two items a day if you want. You may count elimination of electronic media, email, photos, etc. You may eliminate financial squalor, those automatic subscription payments that come out of you account each month that you could do without.
Pick a starting and ending date, pick a number of bags, Post your goal, and let's get started!

Thanks, Ally. I'll choose Memorial Day, too. I like robnoxious007's plan of taking the holiday off and going from holiday to holiday. Mother's Day is in May, isn't it?

This is great! I pick may 31, and then Purge A Thon starts! we have a file cabinet that dh wants to clean out, I can get a big recycle bag filled with stuff from there! Happy bagging everyone! Edited to add that I only have one work meeting today, so I am home. I already emptied one 13 gallon size trash bag from kitchen, its out in big cans in garage. Because of possums, squirrels, skunks, foxes, assorted critters that live nearby, we keep our big trash cans in the garage so they don't get turned over by critters looking for food.

I'll start today, April 21 and go to the end of May. Today is the first day after Easter, it's a beautiful sunny day where I am (Long Island NY) so it's a nice day to open the windows and clean! I have already dumped two bags in the trash today. So I'm more than "on schedule". And ending the end of May is perfect, as we'll be heading into June. And that's when I love to spend my time outdoors, not inside sorting paperwork!

My goal is 30 bags (or more) between now and May 31. Today my 'bag' is to get back to ground zero - to get 3 rooms of the house back to 'guest ready'. Kitchen, family room, and entry. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it. Edit: Job completed to 'good enough'. 1/30 done.

I'm going for 35 bags by the end of May, starting today. I was really struggling to get started with this today, but decided to pick up a bag, and just start adding stuff to it. I gave myself amnesty from having to clean out and recycle a container or two. One bag done! 34 to go!

Since I likely won't have any time tomorrow and don't want to fall behind the second day, I decided to go through some papers tonight. My goal is to sort through 2 smallish boxes - a total of about 10 inches deep. First box done and 98% of papers either shredded or recycled. ................. edit: both boxes finished. 2/30.

And we're BACK! Day One, One Bag! 35 in 35 all the way to Memorial Day Weekend!
And, personally, I've counted as a "Bag" organizing or cleaning an area roughly the size of a bag, or so. As well as actual bags, and things. For example, cleaning my bathroom sink was a bag one day. My shower is on the hit list; for me, that'll be a bag. (If I cut a bag open, and spread it out, it'd cover most of my shower. Likewise, I could cover my bathroom sink and pedestal with a large garbage bag, but really, any complete task will do)

There's a lot of "trash" in my yard. Not smelly garbage, just stuff that doesn't belong there. Like an old plastic tub I had a water garden in last year, and a large roll of wire fence. My house insurance company sent me a letter that they'll be doing an outdoor inspection of my home, so I'll have to get rid of the outdoor clutter. So I'll have plenty of stuff eligible to "bag up".

THis is GREAT!!!! THank you for posting and starting this. I like these easy chunks of time. 35 or 40 sounds so much more manageable than 2014.....though they are both doable. It just sounds easier.
I started the day by putting 6-7 big boxes out on the curb for someone to pick up and donate for me. Then I left my phone at homne and I cannot text her my address. Hope I get home before the rain.
Hiring the boys to do some yard declutter for me. Leaves and pruning and such. But that will be another day.three boxes of clothes ready to leve the house. Just need to get them in the car. And two bags of clothes for a friend. Starting a third bag for her.
