Ohblondie, my DH had a staph infection last summer that turned into MERSA. Before he came home, I was instructed to wash down everything he had touched with bleach water. It was a PITA but necessary. I hope your husband gets well soon!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Still no word on the specifics of the infection or when he will go home. I asked about having to clean everything but they said no. But that was in th ER. We will see.
I am taking advantage of this "found" time and trying to get some stuff done while I am home.
Finished planting the last two window boxes last night....fighting off killer mosquitos.... will throw the random left over plants in a pot.
Will also spend some time this am focusing on my room. Need to get clothes hung up and put away .so that I can get dressed wuthoyt stress in the am. Also need to clean the bathrooms. They are getting gross. Washing the bathroom rugs must be first......
Enuf typing....lets get doing.....

I still need to think about the big picture and my summer goals, like time frame. It is sometimes hard for me to look that far ahead. Here's what is on my mind a lot lately.
TOY PURGE / CLEAN UP / REORGANIZE PROJECT - Here's the problem with the toy situation. I have 3 kids in the house. There are 5 of us total, 3 kids and 2 adults. We have a 3 bedroom house. Each girl has their own room. Son's bed (which he won't sleep in) is in our room. He sleeps with one of us or both of us. With our opposite work schedules, there are only 2 nights a week that we are both here for more than a couple hours at the same time. Back to the toys. So we need to move the 3 yo (boy) in with the 8 yo (girl) soon. A little skeptical about this with a boy/girl mix. But our 15 yo with Downs just isn't going to share her room. It just won't work. So I have the toy issue in the 8 yo's room (her stuff .... way too much stuff!) and then his toys. His are in our living room/dining room. The area that should be a dining room we had used as office space but converted it to a play area. We will still keep toys here. I would like to cut back what is in the bedroom to a minimum. Currently you can not walk in the room on any given day. It is a small room. 10 x 10 I think. It has a large shelf on one wall that houses SOME of her toys, books and stuffed animals, a small desk next to that with monitor for computer/TV. And a bunk bed set already in there. But the floor space is small. So the toy purge is for both areas.
DIGITAL PHOTO CLEAN UP - This is going to be something ongoing. But I really need to get into my digital photo files and organize them more. I have many folders that are dated, but some that aren't. Tons of photos that are not keepers. I often dump the photos off the camera or phone before looking through and have many bad ones that don't get deleted. So there is that aspect of cleaning up our digital photos. Then I want to start PRINTING a few photos to have in albums. I have just started with Project Life scrapbooking. I know it's a process to just pick some photos to print and keep. And a process as I look at what pages I would like to put together. I know I don't want to waste a ton of money and print tons. This is of course something that doesn't take up space --- just is on my mind a lot.
GARAGE - I don't have plans to clean all our garage. It is a process. A lot of it is not mine. It is hubby. I really don't know how to break this down as I don't know all of what is out there. To me, a reasonable goal is to work it into the June Purge-A-Thon and strive for 1 box a week. I am sure I can surpass that. There's a lot to go through and get rid of.

Hi Angie, your thoughts about your digital cleanup make me happy I don't yet have a digital camera--I have no doubt that I too would have a million photos to look through and purge. I do have a very basic flip phone that takes photos but they aren't good quality, so I've taken probably 40 or 50 photos with it--mostly of the animals I've taken care of through my pet care work, so I can remember them. Can I ask how you back up your hard drive? I splurged and got Carbonite last year because I couldn't figure out how to use a separate hard drive that I have, and it's time to renew, so I'm deciding if I should just renew and not have to worry right now about figuring yet another nightmare tech project (definitely not my area of expertise!)
The toy situation sounds tricky--how does your daughter feel about sharing her room? Maybe you could buy her a special toy box/storage bin for the play area that she can pick out and decorate herself, that way she won't resent her stuff having to move out of the room. You could start putting things up on the walls in the bedroom, but when you have short children trying to access the toys I guess that wouldn't work too well. So it's not just physical work, it's mental work to figure out the logistics.
This morning I decided I needed a break from books so I cleaned out one of the two hardware/household item drawers in the kitchen. It was the easier of the two, because it has items that I do regularly use, like extension cords and tools for cleaning the hair out of the bathtub drain. I had purged it a couple of years ago so there wasn't a lot I could get rid of, but I did find a handful of stuff to throw away, a couple of items to donate, and I neatened everything up by winding up the extension cords and putting like things into plastic boxes. That freed up a little space, so when I go through the second, more difficult drawer, I'll have a bit of room to put some things I decide to save. A lot of the stuff in those drawers are not things I use every day, so logically they shouldn't be right there in the kitchen, but it's not like I have a garage or basement work room where hardware would normally be stored. And, the drawers are old fashioned wooden ones, so they don't open up very easily--it wouldn't make sense to store things in them that I use every single day.
I'm actually kind of eager to start on that second drawer now, but I know that would make a mess and I have to leave in about an hour--I don't want to come home to an even messier place than I have now!

OhBlondie, I read in another post that your husband had to go back to the hospital--I hope they get the infection under control once and for all. Are you postponing your construction work?

Hi Diane, it's time for me to get back in the saddle and clean out. I came back to the board to get inspired (I figured another June purge would be scheduled, and I am delighted to see that it has) and this thread will help me kick off my effort. The timing you've set fits perfectly in my schedule. My work just got cut to part-time for two months, so I will have extra time to work on this.
I've been battling health issues for the past year, but this mess is making me sicker, so even if I can just sit and sort through paper (and toss it out!), it will be better than nothing.
Congrats to you and everyone else posting on their progress. Let's keep it moving!

Hubby home!
6 bags of yard waste pulled ti the curb. 4 already full two more filled this afternoon. Almost done with the back garden bed. Worked on the side garden as well.
Took smelly bag of garbage out. Washing the kitchen trash van as it smelled too!
Cooked dinner on the grill. Emptied dishwasher and re loaded.
Running a load of laundry then headed to bed. This week has wiped me out.
Tomorrow I need to start focusing on inside work. Got boxes out of my daughters room so she can sleep in her own bed but I gotta deal with the boxes

Blessedapt, glad to see you here--working part time for a while will give you a great opportunity to get some work done! Making a goal will help you make the most of the extra time (otherwise it has a way of disappearing before you know it). OhBlondie, I'm glad your husband is home--now tell him, no more ER for a while!! You seem to be getting a lot done even though I'm sure you're also doing extra for your hubby. When I started on my hardware stuff I pulled some things out from under the DR table, and saw a bin there that I didn't remember. So I unearthed it, and found that it contained some painting supplies and some miscellaneous stuff. I have now emptied all that out, put the good painting stuff away in another hardware area, and will use the bin for something else. I found several things to throw away today, and I'll list them in both purge threads. I only have a couple more hardware places to work on, although there are also a few stray things that I haven't quite decided what to do with. Of course, the apartment still looks horrible--I can't seem to stop my summer goal work and make myself clean up. That's good in a way, bad in another. Diane

I have been seriously considering what my goals for the summer will be. I have made such headway in the kitchen due to the upcoming (this Wednesday) Gas Co. inspection so I want to carry through to get more stuff done while this progress is motivating me.
I'd love to get the entry hall cleaned up enough so I could have my nephew come over and work on getting electric in my attic so I could put a window air conditioner in and outlets so I can have my craft studio up there (need heater for in the winter) - loads of great room and cupboards up there - a great work space! It would be great to have the messy craft stuff up there and away from everything. Now with wi-fi I could have the computer up there and could even watch Netflix up there.
I also want to get the front porch cleaned up (I got the back porch done!) and get a hammock for the front porch. I got a new cushion for the papasan chair and a porch mat. I also plan to try to get the ivy under control if I can or hire someone to do that for me. The porch is a very do-able goal and won't be too hard. And I've been thinking about a hammock for a couple years now.
I need to find a handyman to help with a few things around the house that I want to do that I cannot do for myself. A few rooms need finished being painted. If I can do the attic this summer that would be huge on its own. Then maybe I could make more goals after that.
Lots of ideas... will see how far I can go.

Last night got two bags of trash from the deck out and in the can. These were old lights, random packing materials, some diintegrated cardboard boxes and a disintegrated cloth shopping bag. Also took one of the dog food bags that was filled with old pieces of trim and got that in the can. Two more dog food bags to go.
My son got the siding pulled off the back of the house where the door will be going.
Made dinner and cleaned up from dinner. Washed the pan I cooked in and got it dried and out away.....Other dishes were loaded in the dishwasher.
at 9:300pm I had to run my son to Walmart to get a car battery. Ended up not getting the battery and he took my car to work this am.
Waiting til we get another day of rain - then I want to finish with the weeding. Probably two more bags of stuff. Still waiting on son to cut up the branches he cut down for me.
Notice I am avoiding working in the kitchen, LR and DR........Tonight?
We now have two more of those little wash basins they give you in the hospital. My hubby uses them to sort tools and other things in the garage.

OK....had another close call Monday night. Probably should have taken hubby back to the ER. His arm was so sore he could not move it. Just moving in the bed caused him pain. he had the arm propped on a pillow and the slightest movement anywhere near the bed caused him to groan. Needless to say neither of us got much sleep. Tuesday afternoon he went to his doctors appt and she tried to take the packing out and re-pack it. She was so concerned she sent him on an emergency consult with the ortho doctor. He reopend the incision and really cleaned that sucker out. Qtips soaked in hydrogen peroxide and some scraping out of the infection. He packed it up tight and wrapped the arm. Hubby is feeling better today and is scheduled to see the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully we have turned the corner on this.
So my weekend plans now include this: *****Hired someone to come open the pool on friday - trying to get it cleaned up so that we can do LOTS of swimming this summer.
*****Hopefully door will be installed on friday - the prep work is done. *****Put siding back in place around the door opening. *****Get deck cleaned up, tools put away, last o the flowers planted, chairs and tables and umbrellas set up - all of that stuff. Will also put the sides up on the screen troom/tent
*****Hired a kid from my youth group to help move the woodpile and spread some mulch. Move some rocks to make a border on the flower garden. Simple things that take a strong back. The rocks are smaller....Some of the pesky yard work gets done and he gets some bucks.....
*****Hopefully there are a couple of pieces of old decking that I can use to make a frame and get a small vegetable garden going. I have a pile of dirt in the spot - just need a simple frame built so that I can get a few plants in the ground.
last night we decided to NOT try to push thru and have the grad party at our house. Too much work that needs to be done and we do not have a rain location. So we decided to have it at our friends restaurant. He will not charge us per person. We will purchase a few trays of food from him, supplement with snacks and stuff, tip out the wittress and have a cash bar. He has a deck so we can sit outside if the weather remains nice. Food will be inside the restaurant and not out on the deck in the pounding sun and heat. Clean up will be a breeze.....we will bring our own plates and napkins and such and try to use our own bowls etc so the clean up and dishes for him will be minimal. We can decorate how ever we want to....probably balloons and such. I don't have to worry about borrowing tents and canopies and tables and chairs and such. I wont run out of fridge space or room in the oven. I will still get the leftovers to take home. I think it will be a little more expensive but it will save us some hassles. And this daughter is probably the only one that will finish college AND graduate School. And she is graduating with honors from graduate school. In an accelerated program. So why not do it up special and with some class!
I am still focusing on getting the house ready though. THe boy freind and his mother are coming to the party so I want to be able to have them over earlier in the weekend. She is the one that insisted on walking int he house a few years ago and it was trashed. the worst ever.
So I have my list for the weekend...now to plug away
