Thanks for the info casper. The online presentation of the survey is not very intuitive to me. I will try it at home tonight and see if its any better. I also didn't see any questions re demographics, age, gender, economic status. Its kinda hard to answer questions about parent attitudes when your parents have been dead for a while.

Brianna, I attempted to take the survey but on one of the pages about decision making (Honestly, I had a lot of trouble deciding on the right answer and found myself contradicting myself. : there were 4 questions and the 4th question extended beyond the bottom of my monitor screen, and there were no scroll bars, and no way to resize the page. I selected [Next], but it wouldn't let me go to the next page w/o answering the question. I selected "control Q" once and then continued on from there.

I did this on a Dell & mostly worked okay with one glitch.
It was very skewed toward younger people (students?) as there were a ton of questions about your parents and their expectations of you etc. that were written as though you still lived with them or were dependent upon them.
Interesting tasks though ;-)

I will make an effort to do this in the next week. I hope that won't be too late for your dissertation, B.

I tried to complete this and was unable to do so. Might I suggest respectfully and strongly that in future admin do not post requests to engage in research unless the system works.
I got to the question 4. I feel compelled to count while I am doing things. The section for answering this was off the screen at the bottom. There was no means of scroling down and the next button was above the question. I could go no further. I could not get out of the program. I tried ESC which did not work and finally Alt Ctrl Del which did informing me that the program was not allowing my computer to log off.
Might I respectfully suggest to the researchers that they test and if necessary fix things before inviting people to join?
I shall not be cooperating in any further research my time is valuable.

Just want to mention, I have participated in research over the years, in school designing and administering studies, and also participating as a subject over the years. This is the most cumbersome questionnaire design I have ever seen, and the mechanics of taking it are just too inconvenient for most. I strongly suggest your school or department find another vendor to do design for similar studies in the future. even with certain restrictions because you are using some copyrighted tool, it shouldn't be this complicated

Tried to do the study, but I am a MAC person and it would not let me in.

Briana
What about ocPd -obsessive-compulsive Personality disorder? OK or not OK to participate? I'm guessing no, but thought I'd ask.

I strongly suggest your school or department find another vendor to do design for similar studies in the future. even with certain restrictions because you are using some copyrighted tool, it shouldn't be this complicated I agree. The tasks I am using are pushing the bounds of what the computer program is capable of, surprising I know, given tech advances. I spent 100+ hours researching and designing this to work online. No easy feat. The program was 10K to purchase, but luckily, a faculty member was able to get a grant to purchase it, otherwise, it would not have been affordable. I was promised much more than the program actually provided, including ease of use. The publishers have refused to stand behind the program and have stopped returning my emails. Very unfortunate and has made my recruiting take 2 years longer than predicted, which has now put me in danger of not graduating at all. This was something that appeared to be a great fit for the study, but ended up being a huge burden. Wish I had known then what I know now, but by the time I found out what a problem it actually was, it was too late to figure out another option, and there don't appear to be other options that I would be able to afford. At this point, I just need around 30 more participants to complete the study, analyze my data, write up the results, and have to to faculty committee by January 1. I am sorry that this has been frustrating for people to complete; I definitely understand the feeling. Thank you to those who have tried to complete it! Brianna
