I am staying optimistic. I see a little bit of air flow in new cracks between the piles. Today seems like I moved more things around than throwing away, but it helped to make a little more sense of what's in there. It's mostly still a mystery though. What in the heck is on the bottom 2 foot strata? Dinosaurs and petroleum?
I absolutely cannot give up on this. It could be a beautiful porch on the side of our house just outside the dining room. It's about 12 x 12 with a lovely old white batten ceiling with a possibly working electrical bit for a fan. For years now, I've kept the dining room windows and french doors covered with curtains to hide the stacks of squalor. So the dining room feels dark and small when it could be light and airy. I've been completely guilt ridden about it. But now I have hope when I see I'm not alone and I'm ready to be tenacious and go forth and complete the Mutation Deactivation.

Awesome thread! A sense of humor will always get you through the hard stuff in life! As for me it's late at night and I feel cleaning energy in my body and my head is telling me no but maybe I ought to just do it no matter what the time? I have the day off tomorrow so it's ok to stay up late. Need to shovel out the junk under my futon to find my id to cash my check.

Oh, my gosh, blackswan, I'm totally cracking up...how's it going down there under the futon? And, I mean that in a completely supportive way. Oh, the places I've searched for things. It should be a Dr. Seuss book!
Did you find it? I think I'm more tired than I know. Off to bed. I'll be anxious to hear you found it!

What in the heck is on the bottom 2 foot strata? Dinosaurs and petroleum? Well hey if it's Dinosaurs and Petroleum down in that bottom 2 feet, you will be rich when you dig it out. Even if it's not, you will feel rich when you get that space usable again.

Ok, morning here and ready to pull on my armour. The Big Ickie waits. It's going to be hot one here today and we have activities planned so it'll be a short time out there.
My daughter is also having a friend here for a sleepover. New friend, don't know family and parent will have to come in. All in view: Living room is good. Entry good. Hallway okay, good in 5min. Dining room weird. If the kid goes to backyard, she'll be able to report squalor. Luckily, we've had recent construction so I can blame it on that. Oh the tangled webs I weave.
Off I go to DO MORE, THINK LESS. Charge!

you are doing great Isingandlaugh, and that is exactly it, if she says anything, say you are working on the house, end of story, whether it is cleaning, or construction, it's none of her business.

Thank you, Beboys! You're right. My husband has talked about the "ego" aspect of it all and how if we get caught up in that, it'll just take more energy and weigh us down.
Wooohoooo, Swamped! I'm heading out there right now, well in a few minutes. It's hotter than hades out there, but shaded mostly. My MIL keeps wanting to "sit and visit" (she lives with us, I'm going bonkers) I'm staying very matter-of-fact about my "project" and treating it like a job with a deadline.
Start 1:00 Break 1:30

Yippee!!! Going well. On a roll, went until 2:00ish. Quick food break now. Brewing tea for iced.
Gathered Christmas things, consolidated into 5 bins, slid them under the house in the crawl space. !!! Laughing as I did it. That's a huge space under there and we won't need those things for a few months and they are easy to get to (if i'm wearing dirtball clothes) No basement or attic, so there you go. : ) I hope I remember! Ha!
With so much to do in so many directions, it's so easy for me to get distracted and use little tasks as a procrastinator. Like a pinball in my head.
About a half hour more out there before it's unbearable. over 100 degrees. pretending it's Antartica.

I know everyone is busy on their quests, but if you'd like a little break, you could see my "ukelele" in the photo section. : )

Trash always counts and if you took the bag of trash out of the house, we will count it twice! Congrats and welcome. I LOVE THIS RULE!!!

... Simple, simple tasks like: send in the blasted parking ticket before it incurs extra charges... This is the exact type of stuff I always do (did?) It's been a while, I hope I've kicked that habit. Good for you for getting all of your stuff done! It feels great, don't it!

Thank you! Eliminator! I'm heading out to get double trash points right now!
I'm noticing that thinking is another way to procrastinate. Dumb it down, baby! Simple simple simple simple simple simple....
