Sweetie is getting into the spirit of things early. He is diligently organizing and purging the shed. Today we decided to get rid of a good weight bench and a good fold-up table. We have another, better weight bench. We only need one. The fold up table is fine except it is not heavy duty enough for what I want it for. Especially when we get things at yard sales we find that they are not as difficult to get rid of as items we buy new.
Free signs on the weight bench and table. On the curb in front of the house less than 15 minutes. I feel lighter, like I lost several pounds.

Hello Hiding I just want to encourage you to make your clean out as easy as it can be . I have dug out so many times since about 2005 always making a good effort but never making a lasting change. I have ignored many of the tips on how to judge clutter and get it out, For example 1 in and 1 out rule, or 6 month rule, those rules have always been for somebody else. As a result , my efforts haven't paid off as much as they should have through the years. I don't know if I'm just thick headed or I know "better" than the folks that are trying to encourage me. I still look at a pile of clothes that has been in my way for a year , knowing that I should just donate but something inside starts fantasizing about if that load was freshly washed with softener added , lovingly hung up with spaces in between....and if I couldn't fit it , someone else would surely appreciate it...on and on. I look forward reading you updates and I will re-read this post , maybe something will sink in.

Best of luck to you, Hiding. It sounds like you are off to a great start.
I bet the people who took those items really appreciate your letting go of them.

Hiding I find that somehow someway what I need will come...When I moved to Vegas after my divorce I didn't have a bed nor a dining room table. The day I moved in my new neighbor says to me yesterday we bought a new dining room table and chairs and don't want to think about trashing the old one...can we give it to you?
When my mother realized I was sleeping on the floor she takes me to Sam's Club as a surprise and bought me a brand new 700 dollar bed.
A friend gave me a car when I had provided them a place to live when they lost their home.
A lady I did work for realized I didn't wear foundation because I didnt have any she dropped off a brand new set of foundation along with a machine that applies it evenly that sell for around 150. Its the air blower type.
Anything I purge I have no regrets because again as I have said before the cosmos takes care of me.
My then boyfriend got a job that would feed us for a month but he didn't have gas money for the trailerhe used to live on site and I asked God to please help us...on the way to the playground with the kids we found 2 crisp 20 dollar bills on the ground. It was exactly enough for his gas.
Trust that if you purge the cosmos will give you what you need whenever you need it. See my gratitudes to see how much as been provided ...never be afraid to let go. An open hand can gain many gifts a closed hand nothing.

Thank you all so much for continuing encouragement and super ideas. I don't know if I will be able to keep you updated during the purge next week but I will let you know how it goes. Even if my report is after it's over.
Of course, in the last few days I get loaded up with extra tasks to do at work. They will have to wait! I thought of postponing my purge week, but I have already received permission for the time off. I don't want to postpone. There really is never a good time to take off from my job. It's always something over there.
I am good at focusing on the task at hand. So when I'm at work, it gets my attention. When I am working on the house, it gets my attention. If I start thinking about things other than the task at hand, the only thing I get out of that is extreme anxiety. I have learned that much over the years!

def6 its prayer...trust me. I trust in God and the cosmos he created to care for me. All that leaves my house I let go willingly because I know it's for the best.

Deep into purging week. It's not moving along as quickly as I would like, but progress is being made. We've already been to recycling and donation drop off. Loading up the truck for more tomorrow. We have so much stuff!
Gotta get back at it!

hiding as long as you take a step forward you are making progress. Sounds more like you aren't giving yourself credit where credit is due. I will give it to you... You're doing terrific.
Trust in the fact we all underestimate the amount of time needed to do these things.
I thought two 4 hour periods for my son's room working alone. It took 5 full 8 hour days with help. It was bad. We purged a significant amount of toys, games, balls,CDs, DVDs and VCR tapes, clothes, socks and we are now in control.

You can do it!!
Get up in the morning, have breakfast and make a list of what you want to get done that day. Put shoes on your feet! Seriously, when I'm doing a big declutter day wearing shoes (which I normally don't do in the house) helps because if something needs to go out to the street or into the big trash cans outside, I don't have to stop to put on shoes to get it out there - it keeps you moving forward. Cross things off your list as you do them. Take breaks as you need them, but make sure you commit to going back to work after your 15 minutes (or however long your break is). Play music while you clean - fun stuff that you can move to or calm stuff if that helps you focus. Reward yourself when you are done for the day - nice bubble bath in now clean bathroom, nice dinner in now clean kitchen, read a magazine you found in your clear out, etc.
