turkeyhill thanks, I did stay up very late (or early) so you are propably right that I needed the rest. I got the main part of my rug project done, but there are still some lose ends that need wrapping up. Now I am having a small break, while I waited my coffee water to boil I washed my kitchen table and benches (not counters, the American benches). I washed every surface of them, top and bottom. In ten minutes my laundry room time starts, I think I will wash another doggy bed.

In few minutes I'll have to go to the laundry room and change the dog bed to drier. I have now started my cardboard box project. I have collected them slowly for my move (somethime in the future?) and am now going to vacuum each and arrange/organize them so they take less room. I might begin by just vacuuming so I could get the vacuuming done before 10 PM, the organizing is quiter job and can be done after 10 too.

Yipeee, kitchen, hallway and a toilet room (half bathroom) has the first layer of paint and we are done for today. It is past 8 pm here and early night for me, I got only about 5 hours of sleep last night. And it all looks sooo great, nice and clean (walls, not the rest - there will be a lot to clean later as I will use the chance of having many thing out and give it a deep cleaning) soon and see you tomorrow

Congratulations lucie, you weekend project is really demanding and you are just blowing through it! Great work! I vacuumed all those boxes and organized them, still need to stack them (and decide if I do that in the office room or in the unused small toilet room). I collected all trash and cardboard recyclables and took them out. I put batch of dishes soaking and put clean, dry dishes away. And got the dry dog bed from the laundry room.

I washed dishes and afterwards did a surface cleaning in the kitchen: wiped all counters, cabinet doors, drawer fronts, inside and outside fridge, stove top, stove hood's visor (what's the word?) and parts of backsplash. I also boiled strong vinegar solution in water kettle. Put a table cloth on the kitchen table (first time in months!) and a clean kitchen towel.
I am not going to get trough all of my list, I'm afraid, but I am quite happy with what ever progress I make. Tomorrow I have a guest coming so won't have much time to clean. I can continue in the coming days working through my list.

Thanks, hollyhock! lucie, congratulations on getting so far! How is it going today? OnTheMend, I put the first coat of varnish on the 2 door frames I sanded yesterday. While I was on it, I also did the baseboards of the hallway. Not much of them there though - tiny room with many doors. Today the light is much better, but the weather feels like october (11°C/52°F at 10:00).

I have washed first load of laundry today and the second is in right now. Next: basic cleaning in the bathroom + one deep cleaning task which is scrubbing the shower stall. I might not get much else done today, but I try to continue with some more detailed vacuuming this evening, I have several different areas needing it.

I am proud to announce that the kitchen, hallway and a toilet room are all painted and drying now. We have a lunch break now and it is very needed. I already started cleaning round the walls so the furniture will go on a clean spot. I also cleaned a space next to cooker (very dirty) and the room looks absolutely great even now. And the side of the cuppboard is clean too now. To do in the afternoon: Remove protective covers and throw them away move the furniture back to its place put up a new shelf start cleaning - I want to reach the state when I will not spread the mess to other rooms and will be able to have a breakfast in the kitchen tomorrow morning Tomorow morning I need buy some more cleaning solutions. I started running out of some. We decided to postpone the bathroom project till sometime later, as there is a lot to be done. OnTheMend, you are right, it is a demanding job, I am not doing much of the actual painting, just helping my neighbour, but I am tired anyway. I bow to flotsam, hollyhock and sue5000 that they did all this themselves. I would also like to thank them all for inspirating me to do it.

Well done OnTheMend, you have done alot so far. Great job cleaning the kettle. I also used to use a vinegar for cleaning it, but my friend told me she uses a citric acid and it works much better that a vinegar and smeel much better too. It must be some cold wave in Europe, flotsam, we are a bit better of, we have had nearly 14°C at 10:00. Not very good for drying the walls and all day airing. But at least it is not humid.

Great work, lucie! Just a word of caution: Did you ever have a problem with mold in your flat? If yes, wait as long as possible before you put the furniture back to the walls. Sometimes I get tiny specks on the bathroom ceiling, and I chose a special color to prevent that there. Enjoy your "new" flat! I'm going at a slower pace not to burn out. BTW: the actual painting isn't the hardest part. It's getting all the items out, and as a single I had to disassemble some furniture to be able to carry it. On the other hand I don't own too much; it's do-able. I like the new look of the hallway. The only disadvantage is that I feel the other parts are looking even shabbier against it than before . That's why I painted the baseboards (luckily a small task). There's at least one door left to be painted, but that's not urgent because it won't be blocked if I put the furniture back (the frames of the other doors will be partly blocked).

Fortunately we never had a problem with mold here, flotsam. But thank you for the warning. We have not done the bathroom yet. I agree with you that preparing things - moving stuff in and out is the most difficult thing. You are amazing to do it all by yourself. I would never be able to move that big wardrobe/cupboard in the kitchen myself, my neighbour did. He is really fantastic. All the big furniture is back and I started wiping all the spots - most are gone now. New shelf is hanging and I slowly started to put things back - I am only going to put back stuff that I cleaned first. It will be my task for tomorrow morning and Tuesday, so I will continue to report in this thread. All pictures in the hallway and the toilet are back, I just had a quick dinner and will do some more, but only a little, I feel tired now and I do not want to burn out. Wow, you have been busy this weekend, OnTheMend

Nothing to compared to you and flotsam, lucie. Nothing I did was as physically hard or did such a big visual difference! My guest is gone and part of the dishes got done. I still have couple pots and pans to wash. Soon I can get my dry laundry from the laundry drying room. The rest of the evening might go to other projects, maybe a little bit detail vacuuming done before silent time at 10. I am going to continue working on my list on the coming week....

I just moved everything back to the bathroom (I had moved it out just in case) and wiped all remaining spots I noticed. That is about all for today, I want to give the walls some more time to breathe, so I am going to hang more pictures and move smaller furniture in there in the morning. I will need to mop some spaces again first. I need a chocolate now. Does anyone know if there is a smiley eating chocolate?
