I didn't fall asleep before 01 am this night, but I was still SO ready to earn my sixth goldstar this morning. I had my alarm on 08.10 am...but then I was so "shaken" my the alarm-sound that I turned it off, and then turned off the snooze too in a daze. So I woke up at 08.58 by myself... "Grrr", so annoying! At least I got up right after waking up, set my feet on the floor at 09.02. If I "analyze" why I so often turn off my alarm I do see a pattern with 4 main reasons:1: I'm annoyed by the sound of my alarm when it goes off, so I just turn it off as quickly as possible (even if I have on multiple alarms and the first are calm tunes...this happens) 2: I'm afraid that my neighbors are waken up by my alarm (REALLY thin walls here, I hear them snore at night and I often wake up by their alarm often too, but they sleep longer than me if the mornings, so I feel *guilty* waking them up earlier than needed) so I hurry to turn my alarm off, and then often turn off the snooze-alarms too, and then fall back asleep again even if I don't want to... 3: I'm too cold, it's t hard to get up when I'm cold, I tell myself "I'll just snuggle a bit in my warm bed"...and then I fall right back asleep again... 4: I'm just too tired from falling asleep too late/insomnia, and I sleep through all my alarms and even the snoozing... Number 1 and 4 I can't do much about, but number 2 and 3 I can do something about; start wearing a pajamas to feel less cold for number 3, and for number 2 (my fear of waking up my neighbors) - I could order one of those vibration alarm clocks I mentioned earlier in this thread: www.amazon.com/Silent-Vibrating-Personal-Alarm-Shake-N-Wake/dp/B0027A573Q TRACKING MY IMPROVEMENT FOR WHEN I GET UP IN THE MORNING (THE TIME I ACTUALLY PUT MY FEET ON THE FLOOR AND GET UP, NOT JUST WHEN I WAKE UP): - Thursday, October 9th: 09.15 am - Friday, October 10th: 08.55 am (20 minutes improvement ) - Saturday, October 11th: 08.37 am (18 minutes improvement ) - Sunday, October 12th: 08.30 am (8 minutes improvement ) - Monday, October 13th: 09.03 am (33 minutes of deterioration ) - Tuesday, October 14th: 09.25 am (22 minutes of deterioration ) - Wednesday, October 15th: 09.10 am (I'm now back at where I started...grrr...but it's still 15 minutes improvement from yesterday so I still get a goldstar ) - Thursday, October 16th: 08.55 am (15 minutes improvement ) - Friday, October 17th: 09.38 am (43 minutes of deterioration - terrible!! ) - Saturday, October 18th: 09.55 am (17 minutes of deterioration ) - Sunday, October 19th: 09.30 am (Way too late...but it's still 25 minutes improvement from yesterday so I still get a goldstar ) - Monday, October 20th: 09.13 am (8 minutes improvement ) - Tuesday, October 21th: 08.52 am (21 minutes improvement ) - Wednesday, October 22th: 08.39 am (13 minutes improvement ) - Thursday, October 23th: 08.30 am (9 minutes improvement ) - Friday, October 24th: 09.02 am (32 minutes of deterioration )Actually my bad days are better than my good days used to be, so I guess that's something! That's definitely something larataylor! I am at the same stage too; my bad days are better than my good days used to be...

Europe girl good for finding some solutions. I find knowing a warm sweater or blanket is available to thrw on as I get out of bed is essential in the colder months. I tried to go to bed at 2 but dog kept whining at me as I tried to sleep which kept me up. I got up at 9ish today as i had to let the cable guy into a neighbour's apartment. the buzzer and corresspondign barking really got me up quick! Took dogs out after that, now I'm back in. So, am half launched. Still have dirty hair and in sleep clothes though. Taking dogs out is SO MUCH EASIER when the dog doesn't need assistance on the stairs. OMG I LOVE STEROIDS. Especially my back loves them, even though its the dog taking them.

I just put my money where my mouth is, and ordered the vibrating wrist-alarm clock! I might put it on my ankle or wrist, and see what will work the best for me... I ordered mine from eBay (it was cheaper) and I guess I'll get it some time next week... *excited* www.amazon.com/Silent-Vibrating-Personal-Alarm-Shake-N-Wake/dp/B0027A573QI'll make a "review" of this alarm clock when I get it, perhaps it could be something for you cyn or larataylor who worry about disturbing your sleeping husbands? puppybox - WTG getting up at 9-ish! Just like I did today... larataylor - Congrats on getting up before 7 am today! Excellent work! Before 7 am, that's very very goldstar-worthy in my opinion! [/img] I love your idea about an "Computer/chore/TV curfew"... Ah, how I wish I could do the same! (I can't those days when I have deadlines for clients that end 9 or 10 pm...that's for sure...

europegirl - your curfew could be later… I've been doing well with keeping the computer out of my bed. I think it's important to have a stop time for light and stimulation, as that's something we can control. I took a television out of my bedroom (it was there when we moved in, and was never moved). I never used it … it's good for watching VHS and DVDs only, and I want to use it in the basement with my exercise bike. 9:00 will be a bit of a challenge, especially when DH comes home later, and dinner is later, and we still want our "watching shows" time together. And teens are often still hanging out here then, and I can't get anyone else to lock doors and turn off lights. But DD needs to get to bed earlier, too. And if I'm *in* bed, it seems to have a suggestive effect on everyone else in the house.

Worked till 9:45 doing temp inventory job. We got off early at 9:45 and was home and in bed at 10:15 drowsing off this p.m. Lots of physical up and down. We finished so fast that guy was shocked...all of a sudden he realizes one girl still working. I finished her sheet in 10 minutes because everybody wanted to go home. I did so many gears and gaskets. Counted twice wrote once!

dogs wanted me to wake up at 9 (dog loves routine) but i put her off until 10. Needed a bit of time to see straight so took them out at 11 i think. Was it 10:30? i can't remember. since sleep was interrupted and crappy from 9 to 10 maybe that'll help reset the internal clock a bit to earlier.
very tempted to nap now which would be bad.

Ex hubby stayed over so he wouldn't have to come over at 6 a.m. He snores...loudly...daughter snuggled in with us She snores loudly. Got to sleep at 2:30 up at 6:00 hit snooze til 6:20 showered and went to temp job.
Got there and they had too many people. I volunteered to go home since others there had no jobs and I have one full time one. They still paid me hour and a half.

I love your new goldstar system larataylor! - Way to go on your improvement! I also want to start with the curfew thing, but I'm not sure I'm *ready* yet, or if I'm motivated enough... Maybe when my sleeping rhythm is more stabile. puppybox Good job working on changing your routines! Right now in the start we all just need to pat ourself on the back for making the effort to change, even if it won't be perfect or a huge change now in the start... Your dogs will LOVE it when your life in more on a stabile routine. I know my dog will too... She is one of my main motivations for doing this! The mornings I get up earlier she seems happier than when I sleep in... I'm updating for 2 days now... I've earned a gold-star yesterday with a small margin (8 minutes improvement), but this night I didn't. I decided before I got to bed yesterday that I wouldn't even set an alarm-clock, I ate something bad yesterday, and I got a mild food poisoning, so I allowed myself to sleep in and wake up naturally today. I woke up at 08.35 am (but considering that the daylight saving time has started in Europe today, it was "actually" 09.35 in my head...). I still felt sick when I woke up, so I didn't even bother to get my up from bed before 08.55. So not really "gold-star worthy". I'll simply write "Amnesty" on my track record for today. In the future, if I'm sick or in need of extra sleep for certain important events, I'll also write "amnesty". No point in being rigid just to earn goldstars if it's not to benefit of my health... However, I'll be strict with my amnesties! TRACKING MY IMPROVEMENT FOR WHEN I GET UP IN THE MORNING (THE TIME I ACTUALLY PUT MY FEET ON THE FLOOR AND GET UP, NOT JUST WHEN I WAKE UP): - Thursday, October 9th: 09.15 am - Friday, October 10th: 08.55 am (20 minutes improvement ) - Saturday, October 11th: 08.37 am (18 minutes improvement ) - Sunday, October 12th: 08.30 am (8 minutes improvement ) - Monday, October 13th: 09.03 am (33 minutes of deterioration ) - Tuesday, October 14th: 09.25 am (22 minutes of deterioration ) - Wednesday, October 15th: 09.10 am (I'm now back at where I started...grrr...but it's still 15 minutes improvement from yesterday so I still get a goldstar ) - Thursday, October 16th: 08.55 am (15 minutes improvement ) - Friday, October 17th: 09.38 am (43 minutes of deterioration - terrible!! ) - Saturday, October 18th: 09.55 am (17 minutes of deterioration ) - Sunday, October 19th: 09.30 am (Way too late...but it's still 25 minutes improvement from yesterday so I still get a goldstar ) - Monday, October 20th: 09.13 am (8 minutes improvement ) - Tuesday, October 21th: 08.52 am (21 minutes improvement ) - Wednesday, October 22th: 08.39 am (13 minutes improvement ) - Thursday, October 23th: 08.30 am (9 minutes improvement ) - Friday, October 24th: 09.02 am (32 minutes of deterioration )- Saturday, October 25th: 08.54 am (8 minutes improvement ) - Sunday, October 26th: 08.55 am ( Amnesty due to illness.)

got up at 9 something, before 9:30, dogs desperate to go out. one is on a medicine that makes her pee more so I felt bad. went out right away. was unpleasant. I am all congested in the mornings and need time to recover. It helped that I'd just changed the bedding, as I am allergic to dustmites like a maniac.
fortunately we didn't run into any dogs that baddog didn't like. I realise that her tendency to be grumpy in the morning makes me delay taking them out because she might jerk the leash and she is very strong so this kind of hurts and is embarrassing and infuriating. If it was just good dog I could go out while all sleepy and sneezing since I don't have to scan the environment for threats.
I almost went back to bed but internet wouldnt work which I knew I needed to fix or go crazy so I tried to fix it for 45 min and then called the company and they helped me fix it. (unplug and wait, replug in modem). duh. but I am awake.
so that all took 90 min or so. but I guess I'm fully awake and useful now.
