I got an extremely rare 12 hrs last nite. I didn't really feel any more rested when I got up than when I sleep 5- 6 hrs but I enjoyed waking up very slowly (also rare for me) the last two hours.

That's great cleanbee, I'm sure you needed the rest. I've been waking up naturally at around 7:30. This is really good for me as usually it has been around 8:30. I'm getting into the bed around 10:30 and listening to a podcast or audiobook. I'm feeling relatively rested today which is great. Everything for me hinges on just laying down at a decent hour. I find if I get about 2 hours of some puttering around, a craft project, and some TV then I feel like I've enjoyed my evening and am not so resistant to laying down.

I was in bed at 9:00 and asleep by 10:00. Of course the house didn't get locked up, which turned out to be a good thing when the key broke off in the front door this morning!
DH is out getting new deadbolts now.
I woke up at 6:00 feeling really good for once! I've been good at getting up and staying up, but not so good at getting enough sleep before that.

my last 2 nights I have not done so well. read too long one night. last night somehow music got on random repeat and I kept waking to it, not turning it off, then fitful sleep even when I did. larataylor When I was getting more regular than I am now I had to really plan and carry out wind down routine starting hours before I wanted the lights out. I guess I'm still slow to realise if I want 8 hrs in bed, and be somewhere at a certain time in the morning I need get back to being mindful of what needs doing by when, the night before.

I think I'm adjusting to the time change finally and I feel like I'm trending towards getting better and longer sleep, which I tend to do In the winter. But it's hard to say if it will stick, my sleep has been so erratic over the past 5 yrs! Main issue being waking up at 2-4 am and not able to get back to sleep. I stayed up too late watching movies night before last, which doesn't happen often thankfully, but last nite I got 9 hrs which was a real treat hopefully I'll get 7-8 tonite, as I am already in bed.

last night - bed at 11. light out @ 11.30 quickly to sleep. Dog woke me at some unseen time, finally did a time check @ 6. rose at 7. much better. Pity about the dog noise. (He has a head shake thing that rattles his tag. If he'd really wanted out he would have bounced against the edge of the bed.)

Winding down, drinking tea, still on computer at 12:40. But I really HAD TO get that fridge cleaned up and the food moved into it. What a day!

I've earned 7 goldstars in a row now for daily slowly improving my out-of-bed time. Yay, record! - Finally I'm feeling like I'm on the right track...(for most of 2014 I've been waking up at 08.30-10.00, so this is a big improvement for me!) Getting out of bed at 7 is my goal.... Even if I'm getting up far earlier, I still struggle to go to bed earlier (like wynken wrote "lights out just after 12 mostly") but yesterday I magically felt tired at 11 pm, and I was in bed by 11.30 pm which is rare for me. That felt really great, and I want to make it a habit/goal to go to bed at 11 pm or earlier... angela WTG about waking up earlier and even naturally! I agree 100% about feeling less resistant to laying down about having done something "fun" like craft projects or watching a good TV show. I'm trying to change that habit though, and rather reward myself with 30 minutes of TV in the morning with my coffee. And for crafting, the brain is actually better suited for creativity earlier in the day, since the brain is most active around noon/early afternoon. I need to start reminding myself of this. - Friday, November 14th: 08.33 am 22 minutes improvement ) - Saturday, November 15th: 08.27 am 5 minutes improvement ) - Sunday, November 16th: 08.18 am 9 minutes improvement ) - Monday, November 17th: 08.13 am 5 minutes improvement ) - Tuesday, November 18th: 08.04 am 9 minutes improvement ) - Wednesday, November 19th: 07.59 am 5 minutes improvement ) - Thursday, November 20th: 07.53 am 6 minutes improvement )

I got to sleep about 2:00, after getting into bed to read a bit before 1:00. This morning I was completely exhausted and could NOT get up at 6:00, or 7:00. DH took DD to school. I slept until 10:00.
Yesterday I had two minor crises to deal with … first the DBILs coming over, and totally cleaning the LR and DR. And then the refrigerator … I lost track of how many hours I spent scrubbing, and then running up & down stairs with food. But that HAD to be done last night. So that's a good "day in the life" to show my DD that I actually DO things. But obviously much more work than I usually do!

In bed at 10:30, up this morning at 8:00. wynken it all starts with the night before for me too. And sometimes even the afternoon before. I don't do as well without some good, long wind-down time before I actually lay down. I've also set aside watching TV programs on my tablet in bed. Oops, except last night. If I actually lay flat in the bed, even if I'm listening to a podcast, I am more likely to feel sleepy. I like very much that I am waking naturally right now cleanbee. I think it helps overall in that I don't feel jerked awake. I'm still a real slow mover in the mornings though. My brain isn't well engaged and my energy is low for a good hour or more after rising. I have enough energy to get out and tend the critters and that usually helps me get my brain in gear.
