cricket I think you should impose curfew...that's part of being real mom. It takes knowing your limits and stopping at that to show children an example. A weekday one and a weekend one so you get decent sleep. When I don't have the right sleep I yell so sleeping contributes to nice quiet relaxing household.
larataylor I find I am thirsty but have to get up to bathroom from drinking too much but I take melatonin so need drink. Vicious cycle .

lostchild - you got cricket and me mixed up, but I got the message. I will talk to DD about it tonight, and she can communicate this to her friends. I think it's good that DH kicked them out … I'm such a pushover. Now they know that someone is backing me up who doesn't care at all about them having fun.

Not a bit offended. I think my worst flub was calling my husband by my sister's name. He was slightly perturbed. Usually I stay in the right gender or immediate family.

I think you should impose curfew...that's part of being real mom. She thinks "real moms" cook three meals a day, keep the house clean, earn lots of money, and look put-together every day. Apparently, all her friends have moms like that. Maybe I should tell her that "real moms" impose curfews, and she'll stop bugging me about it. .

You should. Explain to her that the reason real moms can do all that stuff is they have help from their families who restrain themselves from staying out so mom can't sleep!

Grrrr. I stayed up a little later last night because it was Friday. Then I couldn't fall asleep, and then I got to the point in my book where I couldn't stop. That always happens with books … it's why I avoid starting them sometimes.
And then I overslept until around 9:00. And I just took a nap, too! I added a bunch of supplements to my daily regimen, and something is nauseating me after I take them. I just meant to lie down till I was over the nausea, but I fell asleep.
Let's see if I can shake off the dirt and get back on that horse ….

Hi, ellie. Welcome to the challenge. I *totally* failed last night. Got in bed with my computer. Teens came over, and I talked to them about being quiet upstairs, and they were. Until I heard DD galloping down the stairs and through her room and into mine, asking me to make a quesadilla for a starving boy. I told her she could make it herself. So she went through my room to the kitchen and started cooking. Then all the hungry boys came down after her … the addition opens into her bedroom, and the original house is a circle. Usually her friends go around the other way, but this time they all came through my bedroom, where I was ensconced in my high four-poster like a queen. Since there is nowhere else to sit down, they decided to commune with the Queen Bee and draped themselves all over my bed like a bunch of huge, gangly puppies. . I love these boys. I've missed visiting them in "the den" upstairs when I go to bed early. I wished I had more food in the house because I love to feed them. DH, in the basement listening to all this ruckus, came up later and teased me about having a bed-full of teenage boys. So finally the kids went home, and I put away my computer and went to sleep. Woke up at 11:00 am. Total fail. So that's the big challenge. I can make some headway on my sleeping during the week, and then I wreck it on the weekend, with some help from others.

7sweetbabiesgranny - Yes, can you tell I just love them? I have just one girl of my own, and it's been really fun having boys in the house. They're so sweet and friendly -- and loud and rambunctious and messy! I don't know whether to envy or pity my boy-mom friends … I guess both!

Granddaughter went home this afternoon and I took nap only to hear disaster from kitchen. Daughter opened fridge door from which the shelf fell out and dropped all the condiments on floor. Lost jar of carrots. Shelf is broken too.
Awake now whether I want to be or not!
