I just went on Amazon to look for a full spectrum light … there are so many choices. Does anyone have experience to share about these lights?

I hD a small cheap blue light, it was all I could afford and it still worked great. I would just sit at my desk at work in the morning and do my light therapy and it felt wonderful.
This reminds me to get lots of sunlight before winter comes! I was healed of SAD when I had a car with a sun roof but I don't think I am healed of it anymore.

This looks a lot like what I had. I'm surprised to see how many low priced options there are! I think it's cause it's finally figured out that you don't need a light box you just need a light. You used to have to buy a big fancy thing and there were only a few choices of small inexpensive personal lamps but now if you search amazon there is a ton. I should get one myself I think! Sad is a real !:@:'.@::& . It's true though it's a major downer. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004FOQJJS/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?qid=1414224105&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

I have Philips Original Bright Light lamp. It's probably over 10 years old, and has been working like a charm all these years. I have been super pleased with it. It was especially helpful when my clinical depression was bad, but I still use it even now that I am not depressed. In fact, I just took it out last night from storage. In general I have noticed the sooner I start the therapy in the autumn (as early as in August), the better, so this year I am a bit late. I live quite near the Arctic Circle and we have extreme darkness here half the year.

I have a special "sunlight" bulb that I got for my turtle (besides the basking/heat lamp) and I'm positive that this has made a difference. Before, the living room was gloomy (even with the lights on) during the winter, and with my plants blocking the sunlight from the windows - what little sun we do get, ha. IDK how the pet store bulbs compare to the bulbs they sell specifically for SAD, but I thought I'd chime in anyhow because that bulb rocks!

Thanks for the input, everyone! I don't want to waste money on a cheaper option that doesn't actually work. But if the cheaper/smaller ones are just as good, that would be great!
I've been less good, but not really bad, since September. And just the last few days I've been feeling much worse.
Today I'm feeling frustrated with clutter … wishing I could get a dumpster or a pickup truck and some help and just trash a lot of stuff. DD is doing a family tree project for school, and I've been hunting down photos, which are mostly gathered in one place. A friend came to look at a bed I want to give her, but the footboard is missing and I can't find it anywhere. I'm afraid it got lost in moving.
My living space is nice and clean and tidy, but I still have these areas of clutter that frustrate me. And feeling my energy level plummet and cold weather setting in … the prospect of getting nothing done for months … I just hate that.

I have had one of these: sunbox.com/product/sunlight-jr-2/for a almost twenty years (hard to believe it's that long!), and I would hate to face winter without it. It sits on the corner of my desk while I'm on the internet in the morning for 30-45 minutes, and it works. I used to get bronchitis every November and finally get well in March, before I figured out that I had SAD, and that hasn't happened for nearly two decades now. The light is also a mood lifter and energizer; without it, I strongly resemble a bear trying to hibernate but not able to find an undisturbed spot. I'm so glad SAD lights exist!

I have been waffling about purchasing one. As it's pretty dark at about 6 now I can feel my shoulders inch up around my ears. I have also heard that these lights can help you wake-up in the morning instead of an alarm...

My doctor prescribed a five minute walk outdoors every day, preferably in the sun, with my face and hands exposed. It is supposed to help me get Vitamin D the "natural" way, as well as for mobility and mood.

We just purchased a light bulb for lizards, and put it in a light dish on a clamp. I'm going to have that on while I'm on the computer for now. A walk outside every day would be good … but I haven't felt up to it. Since the computer is where I go when I feel down, I think this will help bring me back up.
It seems to be working already, unless it's just a placebo effect. I'm hoping a daily dose will make me feel like I do throughout the summer.

I think that light will make a big difference, especially if you don't get a chance to see the sun during the winter. I'm glad now that I have a nights/weekend job instead of my last 9-5 where I'd wake up in the dark, and then go home in the dark, barely seeing the sun. My joke was that my smoking was *good* for me, so that at least I could get some sun on me by going outside while it's still daylight, ha ha.

I use the Phillips Go-Lite. Very compact, rechargeable, easy to travel with or even take to work. I think there is more than one model. You can go to their website for more information: usa.phillips.comamazon link hereI think that you need 10,000 Lux for it to be effective. Check the specs to see how far away it has to be from your face to deliver 10,000 Lux.

Check Ebay too (besides Amazon). You can often find better prices. Since I have a desk job, I have a small one that sits on my desk.
