My lizard light seems to be doing great! I forget what the distance is for 10,000 lux, but I'm keeping it quite close while I'm on the computer. I had two days where I was really sinking, and couldn't even maintain the house. Now I'm feeling like my summer self again. A kid came to visit and said our house *stank,* which was a little harsh, but I hadn't cleaned the litter boxes for three days. I got up and cleaned them, and processed piled-up laundry and dishes, and went on a big shopping trip by myself. Getting more luxes now as I enter this shopping into my budget/food supply lists.

So it's just a lizard light? Like you can find at the pet store. And it is working? I actually have some of those around in the house! I wake up, now, while it is still dark...this would help immensely.

Yes, we got it at the pet store for about $24. DH screwed it into a silver dish thing that he uses for photo shoots, on a clamp, and it's clamped on the couch so it's very close to me when I'm on the computer.
These are made to be on all day, every day for reptiles, and replaced after a year. Even though the light still lights up, the full spectrum aspect wears out after a year. I'm not using it nearly that much, but I think I'll replace it after a year anyway to be on the safe side.
And it does appear to be working for me! I came out of that funk and got back on top of maintenance and cooked tons of food.

I acquired a Phillips Go Lite from a relative. I found that while it improved my mood, it left me with a weird irregular heartbeat issue that I found more disconcerting than my low mood, so I don't use it anymore. I've never met anyone else with this issue, and my doctor was skeptical, but to me there was a pretty clear connection.

I've been using mine daily for an hour or more since setting it up few days ago - love it! Should have taken it out from storage at least a month ago.

Time to bring out the light! No more DST. Now if only I can find a good place to put it in my cluttered bedroom. Do most of you keep your light in the BR or in the living areas?

I have mine in the living room -- it's on a clamp, attached to the back of the couch, so it's very close to my face when I sit on the couch (I move a cushion and sit sideways). I have my power cord in the LR, and currently my laptop won't stay on without power. I'm breaking my old habit of using the computer in bed.
If I were rolling in money, I would replace a lot of the light bulbs around the house with full-spectrum bulbs. But since I'm not, I having it where I *sit* is the most effective.

What does DST stand for? My bedroom is a dark cave. I'm sure it would help to have a full spectrum light in there to turn on in the morning. But often DH sleeps later than me, and I'm now in the habit of just getting the heck outta there in the morning. I relax on the couch with my light, my computer, and my coffee, instead of in bed like I used to.

DST = daylight savings time
I like to read in bed before I leave the room and face the real world, so I think I'll start there. Then on grey days I can bring the light into the living area.
