Kimmy was the first person ever to post on the internet about her squalor and recovery. And from that first thread (on a former forum) was born the idea for the website "Squalor Survivors". Kimmy's story is in several parts, so I will give you links to the whole thing. Kimmy's first post was on May 20, 2001, North America time or May 21, 2001, Australia time. --------------------------- --------------------------- Part ONE:Kimmy's original 17-page thread: Link that anyone can copy/paste into messages to oneself, but note that Kimmy's story is COPYRIGHT to her. link:Copy all these pieces into a single line:http://web.archive.org/web/ 20030708130337/http://juliemorgenstern.com/ ubb/Forum4/HTML/000042.html Clickable link to get there yourself now:web.archive.org/web/20030708130337/http://juliemorgenstern.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000042.html(It may take a few minutes to load) --------------------------- --------------------------- Part TWO:Here is the continuation of the Third Degree thread on Julie Morgenstern. I had not ever read the Julie Morgenstern thread. WOW. Pigpen's story brought tears to my eyes. What dear brave people our founding members are. Last night I watched part of the Hoarders marathon on Discovery. It is hard to see the folks that aren't ready in their own heart, that feel violated, or forced, and still see value in all their things, no matter the cost to them, their health, and their relationships. More encouraging are the folks that know it's time and maybe even started on their own but got bogged down in the sheer volume. Then those clear out days with the dumpsters and a team of helpers can make such a difference. It's wonderful to see the relief for those folks. I normally wince at the dumpsters. Me and my waste aversion. There weren't any last night that involved animals, thank goodness. I had seen one of those episodes before and it really upset me. However, I was watching closely to see if there was anything that these folks were saying that I have said about my critters. I wanted to see if I had any of the distorted thinking that can occur. And truly, nope, nothing like that for me. My animals get better care than I do.

I sat and read the entire thread from beginning to end. I am so inspired! It means I can do this. I am almost end of journey and am left with papers and financial squalor since losing my second job.
It threw me in a spin and like Kimmy I found out my friends true and otherwise. I will keep going and hopefully something good I am hoping for will happen.
