Awww thanks everyone! It's been quite a journey. It's funny now when I talk to people struggling with depression I want to tell them about bipolar ii. It gets misdiagnosed as depression all the time, of course I'm not a doctor so I gently suggest they Google it and just consider it, and if you suspect it talk to your doctor. The squalor thing for me has multiple contributing factors. For one theres hoarding in my family, but also I've really struggled with self esteem, self worth, this sort of inner self destructive tendency thats manifested in alcohol, substance abuse, lack of self care etc. It seems some of you suggested a med check with my doctor, back then I thought I'd tried everything so that can't be it - I never in a million years thought I could be bipolar but bipolar ii has less intense mania or hypomania, which to me just meant once in awhile I felt better. A good doctor, education, honest self examination and intense psychotherapy was the key for me. Thanks again for making me feel welcome! Y'all are good folks. JYS

junkyardsaint - there's a lot more to it than "wanting to live like that," right? In fact, most people living in squalor don't want to live like that at all! I'm so glad you found your answers!

I am so happy that you got a correct diagnosis! It can make the difference from completely falling apart thinking 🤔 you’re the problem when it’s actually something completely different! You can check my previous blog to find out I had three TIAs transient ischemic ... aka mini strokes that turned out to be caused by a combination of an overdose of medication ( doctor has had his license revoked )and stress caused by the entirety of my health!
I am still recovering but knowing that I wasn’t crazy made me feel so much more able to figure out how to deal with it knowing the truth instead of thinking 💠I was incompetent or that word we date not name like Voldemort! Lax¥ !
I wish you all of the best and I foresee great opportunities and changes for the better for you! Congratulations!
