Hollyhock, I love number goals--when you know exactly what you have to do, you can track exactly how you're progressing. 62 boxes is a lot, but hopefully many of them will be easy to deal with if there aren't a variety of items in each box.

razy when it comes to buying a house I believe you will find the right house when its right for you. I looked at over 40 houses, bid on several and finally got one that I was told was impossible to get.
I paid 245 for 4 bed 2 bath fixer upper that was listed under the wrong mls. It had had no showings. It turned out to have solid wood floors, and is perfect for my family.
I am slowly fixing it up.
I have the big bedroom I needed for my furniture! It has fruit trees. I have palm trees. I have replaced the stove, dishwasher and gotten a new washer and dryer. I am having fences installed next.
It has been my best investment but it took a long time coming. I searched for a long time. Don't give up!

Thanks dtesposito. Today I decided to work on boxes that were not in the 2 main areas of boxes - and I am pleased that I managed to get through 8 in all, 7 today and 1 more tonight. Since ds and I cannot get together until next week, I will need to delay unpacking the boxes of books, but I can do linens this week, and then on to the china. I work 3 days this week, so even if my unpacking gets slowed down because of it, I'm ahead of the game.

Got down to the floor in my closet. Two large bags of clothes and one bag of shoes later. 3 outfits for a friend!

Hollyhock, you're WAY ahead of your goal, you'll make it for sure! Ipro, that's great!! You'll feel so good opening the closet door and seeing everything looking neat and orderly. I wrote on my daily list that the other day I got upset because I couldn't find my coat, and remembered that I had started hanging it up in the closet!! It takes a while to get used to things being where they're supposed to be. Diane

I'm late to this thread but I too have a couple goals for the last weeks of 2014. Over the last 2 weeks I have slipped back into some habits that I don't need. Mostly not maintaining the daily dishes and taking out the trash. So I'll be on WIT or another work along today and Saturday to catch up with my No New Messes stand. I have 2 weeks of vacation starting on the 11th so I can really focus on the apartment and the holidays. My 2nd bedroom is repaired and painted. I have space I can make decisions about. Do I want to quickly move my horde of boxes in to there and empty the living room? Or set it up as an extra bedroom and trust that I can purge the horde down to just things that have a home or fit in my closit? That would take about a 80% or 90% removal/disposal rate so that might be too lofty for just under 4 weeks. But a box free livingroom would be a wonderful Christmas gift to myself. The kids separated my kitchen boxes from the rest of my boxes and placed them in my dining room. Yesterday I called my older sister who is a master organiser. I have asked her to help me completely reorganize my kitchen. We set a date 12/15 to go through the cupboards and boxes and make the space useable. In years past I would not have trusted her to enter home much less help me without a major finger wagging session. But I have no fear of that today, because we have both grown and become much healthier in our own lives and understanding of each other. Our new relationship is wonderful.
So it might be too lofty but I am working toward a working kitchen and livingroom for the new year. chadow

2 full boxes were removed from my hoarde today. One was full of someone else's Christmas stuff from the 80's. I know where it came from now though I didn't know what was in there wasn't mine. I only had possession of it for 10 years and most of that time it was in my garage. The other was from my Xmas stuff but things I felt good letting my son take to start his own tradition. 2 down about 40 more to go through. Chadow

Lost child--enjoy your clean carpet!! My floor has been installed. I really like it. It's sheet vinyl that looks like wood. My closet is almost done. I have many bags to bring to house of hope.

iprocrastinate - your new floor sounds wonderful! It sounds like it will be easy to maintain!
I have four boxes in my car to donate as well as a bag of clothes. Everything will be donated once I get my car back! Kids are using it now.
Looking for more.....

lostchild, I'll bet you're excited about your clean carpet. (I'm excited for you!) chadow, I hope the kitchen reorganization went well. It is wonderful that your sister is now able to help you without shaming you. I have the next week off, so I'm hoping to make some progress on decluttering and cleaning. I've already managed to dispose of an old cushion and a lot of old window coverings that I don't need anymore. Since I will finally have time to drop off donations this week, I'm going to try to focus on decluttering so I can fill up some boxes to take to the thrift store.

Already a container of makeup spilled and cats pooped on carpet. Oh well...it was clean for Xmas! And new baby! Enough said but it still looks good!
