Yay for all the de-icking going on! My glass was a breeze, and took all of 20 minutes. DH felt bad, and said to leave it for him to do today. I've got a better idea...that time he thought he'd devote to the broken glass can now be spent doing something else instead. Like, how about dog poop patrol? That's a *major* ick - thanks babe! My steamer is the little 3-in-1 type, that you can use as a mop too. I only use it as a hand-held, but the mop idea seemed like a good idea at the time of purchase, ha. The trouble is that it leave behind quite a bit of water, like it squirts out instead of just steams things. I've gotten many icky messes clean with it though, so I like it. Shosh, I'd really be tempted to just remove those covers to wash them. It seems like it's hard to get them back on, but the foam inside can be squished so you can wrestle the fabric back over them. But *don't* listen to me - I have quite a history of 'bad idea' cleaning behind me, .

I have an new ick I need to clean up. I am not sure which end it came out of but someone pulled a plug out of the cat and he let loose with either puke or liquid poo on the tile floor by his litter box. I keep giving him his medicine and I think he is feeling better but still there are surprises.

Heh! Trouble is, it's really quite a hard sofa, from what I remember the foam has a sort of under-cover over it and it doesn't squish very much, certainly not the arms/back. Anyway, I'm washing the sheet that goes over it, if I've got time/spoons* I'll see if I can wash the covers of the cushions that go on it (they're tatty old fake fur things.)

shosha there are still sofa slipcovers available, if that's what you were referring to in your previous post. Most can be ordered from catalogs or on line, but one of our local discount stores also carries them. My experience washing original sofa covers was not good. They ripped in the washer.

I have so many icks, I don't know which to pick.
I think I will pick up one bag of ick in the sun room today. It's not cleaning itself, that's for sure!

shosha - I currently just cover my couches with sheets … it doesn't look great, but it feels clean, at least. Because they're so easy to wash frequently, it helps me keep the cat hair off the couches and the dander from sinking into the upholstery. Some day I hope to have a steam cleaner, and real covers, or at least matching sheets!

Yeah, it's a funny-shaped one from Ikea, but I found a few ebay sellers that make them (in purple!!!) so next time I have £40-ish kicking around I might treat us. larataylor, that's pretty much what I do, DD's graduated to a small double bed, so I've got a couple of single-sized flat sheets that pretty much do the job, they don't quite stretch to covering the arms but they'll go over the back and the seat, so they'll do. I'm annoyed that the sofa's taking so long to dry, I really didn't get that much water on it, I've even had the electric heater standing near it for a few hours and gave it a blast with the hairdryer and it's still wet! Thank goodness I did it when it's just me and the cat at home.

Pick an ick dayeanu! Anything will do! Set the timer for 8 minutes (your magic number) and just work on something till it dings. Rest, repeat. It will start adding up, quicker than we can imagine.

I finally remembered to clean off the icky, dusty cobwebs from the outside edges of the clothesline. I kept forgetting to do this, except when I had clothes hung on the line and then I didn't want to risk getting cobwebs onto my clean washing.

Good idea, wynken: I have an under sink ick too, but I don't know what it is, ! I might have a leak from my kitchen sink? Fortunately, the water's landed in a stacking bin that holds some cleaning products - but it's a gross yellowish colour, and those products are sitting in it. My great intention of *not* looking away from these messes didn't work with this ick, because I first noticed it over a week ago. Oh well, at least I got that glass all cleaned up asap - baby steps, right? C'mon little buddy, make me deal with this today!

A gross icky mess was cleaned off the kitchen wall over here, whoo hoo! An added benefit is that this was an area that I could see from my laptop, and now that the wall is clean, it's motivating me to clean a wider swath in my view. Funny how a clean wall can do that?

Phew, my under the sink ick is done! There was mouse poop floating in the water, ewwwww! Lots of poop down there, actually. The leak is coming from a cracked ring on the right side sink, so hopefully by using the left sink instead, there won't be any more water down there - and we can patch it up with some silicone, DH says. Ok, sounds good!
