And I do remember Donna Reed and June Clever! Who in their right mind would wear heels at home! To cook and clean, no less! (I was always a bad apple! !) You must NEVER let your man see you without heels and makeup!

cyn - I get large bundles of microfiber cloths at Canadian Tire - sometimes cheaper in the Automotive part. For really yucky jobs I like using J-cloths - then I just toss them when done. I know not very ecological. Sometimes I use them for light clean - wash them - and then use them to wash something really dirty, because by then they are starting to get weak or rip anyway. Re microfibers - never use fabric softener on them. They often clean 'light' messes well enough that you only need plain water or a bit of spritz of vinegar water to clean with them. You rarely need chemicals.

I recommend a pumice stone. It is only a couple dollars and really scrubs the dirt/grime.

I get my microfiber cloths in the automotive section of the Dollar Store or Wally World. I wash mine in hot water and it doesn't seem to hurt them.

I also buy mine in the automotive section of Walmart and wash in hot water. However, because they are made of synthetic materials, I don't think they can tolerate boiling water. I think it might melt them. But I'm not sure about that; just guessing.

I wash mine in with whatever I am washing, which means that they always get fabric softener thrown in. Didn't know that I wasn't meant to use it on them, and tbh I can see / find no ill effects from it. If I had to wash them so separately that would cause more issues.

cyn I just had to laugh. I just posted in another thread that I am nearing maintenance. I read your first post and thought Window tracks? People clean window tracks? Maybe instead of maintenance I am at the starting to get the bits and pieces of the house clean now that the hoard is pretty much gone. Is there a list somewhere of stuff people should keep clean? I know the main stuff like floors, counters, tables, toilets, etc. I remember reading somewhere that there were things you clean daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly. I need to see if I can find the list again. I think I am good on the daily and weekly stuff and also some of the monthly stuff. However, I severely doubt I have a handle on the other items as I have just been focused on finding the floor for ages.

You must NEVER let your man see you without heels and makeup! I don't think my man has ever seen me in heels and barely with makeup. What if he has no clue who I am or thinks I am a pod person. I used to wear heels and make up all the time but the last 10 years have ben really rough.

However, I severely doubt I have a handle on the other items as I have just been focused on finding the floor for ages. Same here! But not only that, I've discovered that I'm actually an *imbecile* when it comes to cleaning. Truly. To prove how stupid I am: since I'm working on a routine, to get this cleaning schedule to work, I decided that Mon & Fri would be bathroom duty days. So today I started the job -the easy stuff, like cleaning the mirror. For crying out loud, I have a mirror hanging on the wall too, not just over the vanity. Duh! Why haven't I cleaned it yet?! Or the door?! That was dusty, with finger marks and who knows what dirtying it up. Why hadn't I done that earlier? Like the window tracks - the only reason I know they have to be cleaned is because mine have mold growth, . I started a thread about routines, because I obviously need help. I need someone to point out where to start, and itemize these things, or I'm going to be oblivious to them. I'm not a dummy IRL, but I sure am when it comes to cleaning. It's so foreign to me! I can't even use the right products, nevermind overlooking the obvious. So, Papermoon recommended the Martha Stewart housekeeping book (even though I have waaaaay too many books, and have a list of books that I want to buy, and have to avoid entering stores where books come cheap, and have declared a 'no book' policy until I get my crap together) and I ordered it, because I need help. TML, it sounds like we're in about the same place here. Please post the list you're talking about, when you find it -I don't know how long my book will take.
