Woohoo cleanbee. Great focus to reclaim your sink, and whip those dishes etc through the cleaning and away process. A build up awaits me too. 24+ hours of debris. Its a build up given the space I have. I need to get recreate an after every meal mindset. And to empty the dish drainer pronto. That can be a clog in my system.

Hey, guess what?!!
I've gotten a RL acquaintance started at washing up dishes EVERY DAY!!
She's been at it for TWO WEEKS now!
I'm *SO* proud of her!! She's very pleased with herself, too.

Wow! Great job all around, everyone! I've been playing cleaning bingo in a facebook group VERY consistently, and that's amounted to having anywhere from a single 15 minute dishwashing session (personally - not counting what the kids are asked to do), to 2 hrs & 35 min. personally washing dishes per day. I haven't even missed having a working dishwasher. I know we all know this, but it's AMAZING how much less time it takes to wash the plates we JUST ate oatmeal off of, than the ones we ate oatmeal off of 3 hours ago, or last week. I can't say my sink has always been shiny each night, but this is such a vast improvement over where we were. And the kids are still working away at dishes as well.

Good things happening at your house SheCanAndWill keep us posted on the progress! Arid WTG on inspiring the RL !! Nice work! wynken hope you caught up and are maintaining. it just never ends does it but the rewards are there when we keep up. That said, I did nothing to keep up during the work week but washed and put away a load today and washed the pans, etc. Motivation and consistency for daily maintenance continue to lack on my end and makes the weekends not so much fun. I hope to get back whatever mojo I had before, but having a hard time finding it.

Great gains SheCanAndWill. nodding to cleanbee. Do you know what your 'problem is? Mine is lack of the discipline of consistency I think. Yep. the motivation is lacking thing. I have just washed up 2 days worth so I could use something. There wasn't that much to do, but that's not the point. I have certain things I like to use daily, and life is just so much easier if the dishes get processed as a matter of course... Going to go wash up this one thing now, and process the recycling of the yoghurt container. I'll edit this when its done. ... 2 min later - its done. I think a key for me will be putting a smile on my face about having them done, and how simple it is. Cleanbee - I know /think you still have a dishwasher, so the steps are different for that. Perhaps it would help to write about what you do, or don't do, what helps, and what doesn't.

Welcome redallie. Its good to have you here. Yes - If getting the dishes washed is an issue for you, post here and share your success, or problems. This thread, and the yearly threads that have run before have helped some get started and keep at it while they develop good routines that have reached far beyond the sink! edit to add - dishdrainer emptied, and washed up again after dinner. Go Me.

Hi redallie - Use this thread to post your progress and/or struggles with dishes if any of that feels at all helpful to you. We're here for support. Well - busy, busy week over here. I was out all day yesterday, shopping with my mom, and the dishes piled up MIGHTILY while I was gone. I made some small stabs at beating them back last night - but I'm still staring at a pretty big pile today. We'll all be out shopping this afternoon/evening, so I'm going to make another small stab at beating them back in just a bit here. Progress, not perfection, right?

I've been up and down with dishes this year, currently not doing too amazingly badly, by my standards. I've got a sink and a half of washing up to do, but the sink part is mostly a couple of plates and then a few cups/glasses that I retrieved from various locations. The half sink is actually various items that have been sat out getting greasy and/or dusty - a couple of tins (the container kind, not the tin can kind!) and a plastic tub thing. So that shouldn't take too long once I'm feeling up to it. I'm going to go and make myself a cup of tea and fill the sink with hot soapy water to soak for a bit.

Whoops, I realised when I went in the kitchen that there was more like two and a bit sinks' worth of stuff to wash up. Have been to the hospital to visit my mum, so I didn't actually wash up the stuff I put in to soak, but when I've had some lunch, I'll tackle that.

I got all the stuff that was there before dinner done, except for a couple of pans. Didn't have the spoons to wash up dinner things before bed, will try and get it done in the next couple of hours...
