Sorry you're both snowed in, TML & andrea. And I hope you can get back to the exercises and feel better soon Andrea, I'm glad you got some good news from your doctor! I finally moved everything back to where it belongs, phew. I have the dishwasher to unload yet, and I'm washing the couch comforter atm. Things look much better over here, after a couple of messy weeks. My room isn't so filled with doom, and since I still have plenty of shelving to use (and the drawers) I have hope that it'll be ok eventually. Lots went out today - that's making me quite happy.

Hello everyone, glad to see that the snow, while bad, hasn't left you without electricity & I hope you are keeping safe and warm and that the weather settles down soon.
Thanks Cyn for starting this thread, and good work that your room is coming along.
I have started with the dishes and a coffee!! Next I plan a short walk via the charity shop to drop off a couple of items. and more work on trash and recycling in time for the landfill party.

Hi jendela yay you're bringing more stuff for the party! I've made dinner, unloaded the dishwasher, and got the comforter into the dryer. Next up: loading the dinner dishes.

Hi Jendela, good work getting things out!
Cyn, you're having a great day! How does the LR look now that the boxes are out?
I'm home from a busy day, and everything hurts--besides extra walking, the sidewalks were really slippery today so I was tense while walking and that makes everything worse. My feet, back, and hips all hurt. So I'm kind of hunched over limping right now, but I'm going to try to do a few things before bedtime. I did my goal of 15 minutes on books, but I would like to do 15 more. I would also like to PEEP so that I start tomorrow off with everything where it's supposed to be. I have a half day off tomorrow and I'd like to do cleaning rather than decluttering.

Ouch Diane, sorry you are feeling sore, but well done on all the dog walking and making your 15 minute book goal.
Cyn, good on you for keeping up with the dishes and washing.
I have made egg & bacon pie, getting trash bins ready for this weeks collection, a tiny amount of yard work (prunings to go into bin while I still have some space) and recycles out. A tiny PEEP in the bedroom.

Okay, I got some rooms back to normal, not all. I did 20 more minutes on books, and I did my end of day jobs. I will actually get to bed nice and early, as planned!
Jendela and anyone else continuing to work, good luck on your goals for the rest of the day!
Diane

I was finally able to get my scanner working again and scanned 100 papers that are now gone to recycling. I was also able to threw away 2 pairs of socks that had holes in them plus went thru my clothes again and will be donating 30 more items that no longer fit. I was also able to at least wash all of the blankets today plus older ds' blankets which means bedding is finished for this week which feels great. I also washed dishes after I ate lunch and dinner including the pots and pans. Made sure boys took their meds both times today as well as making sure I took all of mine. Bothboys go into school 2 hours late tomorrow but parents told me to go to my appointment and they will make sure the boys make it to school.

Diane, my living room looks 'lived in' right now. DH piled board games on the couch, he's got some laundry draped over it, and a dvd player I'm assuming is a donation? But, it's an acceptable mess - anything that I can clean up in under a minute it ok by me! It's actually quite beautiful in there now, and my plants are getting watered today so they'll be happy. It's garbage day, and I got up nice and early to see how much more I can toss. Everything needs to be cleaned around here, because I've put it off all week, so I'll be vacuuming and wiping today too. I picked up a shift for tomorrow, so I need to get everything done that needs doing!

I just shredded some old bills, for the first time ever. Nice! One was pretty thick, and the shredder was choking on it. But it recovered fine for the next one. I can see now how they might burn out, so I'm going to heed all the helpful warnings and not ask too much of my little machine. It can only do 8 sheets at a time (I should've known that envelope was too thick!) and 50 times a day maximum, according to the instructions. But now that I've had my shredding fun, it's back to getting all the garbage out to the road. Have a great day, everyone!

Interesting that your instructions tell you 50x a day--I've only seen "sheets at a time" limits. If you keep your shredder handy while you're actually sorting the paper, you can put the occasional sheet through as you're working--I just think you're not supposed to keep the motor running continuously for minutes at a time. If I have a stack of shredding to do all at once, I leave it next to the shredder, and whenever I pass by, throw a few sheets in. For things that don't have a bank account number, SS number, etc., you could put them in a dark plastic bag (so no one can see through it) and put your dog poo on top. Tie the bag shut but leave enough of an opening so it's obvious that there's dog poo inside. Not likely that anyone will open it up and poke around in there! But not impossible, I guess! Diane

My shredder is just a little cheapie unit. The top part just rests on top of the bucket - and I've seen sturdier plastic buckets in the dollar store. So I'm sure that my cat would have it knocked over and broken in no time. I'm not complaining, it's working just great. Plus, since I had so much fun with the bills, I decided to shred all the employee statements that were collecting dust in my bedroom. Funny about the dog poop - I sometimes add papers to my scooping bag, rotfl. Who wants to go through that?!

All the garbage and recycling is done, including a fridge/freezer purging for good measure. Major cleaning for the rest of the afternoon, including washing my bedding and moving more stuff out of the bedroom. I swear, someone comes in here while I'm sleeping and drop things everywhere!

Monday night I started my online defensive driving course. I had been hoping for a snow day tuesday - but alas...nary a flake. So I was able to finish it up last night. Taking this class will reduce my insurance costs. So it contributes to cleaning up my financial squalor.
Tonight is potluck dinner at church. I wll be home early today so I will try to bake something. If not - I can gab a $5 pizza or a $6 qt of fried rice to bring. I might have to get my son at school tonight - so not sure how much I will get done at home.
At work I did manage to empty more out of the old file cabinet and get more in the new file cabinet. My new files are so organized. Wahoo!

Cyn, my shredder is a cheapie too, I bought it at the thrift store for a few bucks, but even new it would not have been expensive. I've never oiled it, but then I don't use it constantly either, I don't have that much shredding to do. Ohblondie--sorry you didn't get the snow day--isn't it funny, no matter that we're adults now, we still want our snow days! I'm home for my half day off--I spent the first hour of it sitting on the couch reading and eating lunch. I'm trying to decide if I want to run out to a nearby store for a couple of things I want--not NEED, but want. If I go I'll wait til later. I need to do cleaning today, plus a little decluttering that didn't get done yesterday. I don't want to waste the rest of this day, so I have to get working. Diane

I ended up ordering some special oil on ebay for my shredder, and it cost me less than it would've if I'd've ordered it from Staples - since they don't bother stocking this item. (nope, they can sell Tassimo coffee pods, but not something to maintain their products. ) I figured that my little machine could get very thirsty, once I start unpacking all my paperwork. I also saw a great deal on some essential oils with the auction ending within the hour. Sold!
