I have a storage unit and it is a nightmare. After the $1 deal and the lock and the insurance they raise the prices on you often. My unit has furniture that I am going to have to deal with and boxes of stuff that I am sure that I can get rid of like Jannie did. I just have to do it. I asked about better deals on units the size of mine and they said yes they could offer me one for less but I would have to move all of my stuff to a new unit to get the new price. They know that no one wants to have to do that, so they have you until you can clear it out. BEWARE of storage unit companies. congratulations on all that you got done!!! I so hear you!!! I'm in good enough shape here that I can bring back the very little that is in the unit and it will either be integrated into the home or stored in my bedroom closit. Now that things are safe I don't need their deals aka con any longer. I best get my $20 back for their lock. Oh wells Cheryl

Way to go. I wish I could do that. I hate the con. My storage unit made me buy the lock so I won't get money back. Of course the locks are made to only fit the storage unit.

Yep Gotta, I called them after your post an you are right they won't give me the money for the lock. So I'll keep it for now. Some day I'll have a friend that needs one or I can sell it on Craig's list. No big deal at least I'll be out of there before the second months Bill. Cheryl

Thank you Reb and Evelyn.
I am proud of myself and so thankful to you and this group for giving me the resources and the support I was looking for.
I am in great shape for this trip to NOLA for the conference. I can have the kids care for my dog and a neighbor/ coworker come in to my apt to feed the cat and not worry about what she thinks of the mess.
I still have a lot to learn about matainence and keeping things nice. And I'm sure I'll slip back once in a while.
Cheers to all !!! It can be done. Cheryl

15 hours before I fly out of Portland. I have everything I need (i think) but none of it is in my suitcase. As soon as this load of laundry is dry I can start packing.
Yesterday the dd and dil took me shopping. I haven't bought any non work clothes except a Xmas sweater in so long I can't remember. I let them talk me into applying for a store credit card and left the store with over $300 with of spring wardrobe. I feel like a new woman.
I have a load of dishes and a couple trash bags to go down to the dumpster before I go but other than that the place is in good shape.
Watch out New Orleans here I come!
